Scallop Circles - ala Andrea Walford

First this is the first version I created...but it needed something........

I have been sleeping all day...after last night's all nighter with Grad Night at my daughter's school...it started at 5 for the graduation which I didn't have to arrive for the festivities until 7pm...and then all the way to 2 am.....but, it actually ended at 5am...I just had a blister on my feet for standing for such a long time! It was so much fun! I hope that the seniors had a great time! It was really more fun than just going to Disneyland, which was the only thing available at the time when I graduated from high school!
But, I finally got up, carted my daughter around to get her photo id taken for her job with the parks and recs (she's going to be a Recreation Leader specialist...ie: working with kids during the summer at the parks)
I took a short nap again..and then got to stamping!
We're also cleaning out the mess from the freezer too...so we're eating lots of chocolate chip M&M cookies..want some??

I went to Andrea's blog and found a great tutorial on making these large scallop circles. Now, I did see this on someone else's blog too, but thought "What can I create with this?"

So, I took my cardstock and punched my 1 3/8" hole, making sure that it was a centered as possible.

With Andrea's tutorial, you will be placing this punch in with the folded edge in first.

Next, I placed my Slit Punch as far as it would go. The edge of the cardstock will peek through the opening. With Andrea's tutorial, you can put the fold there. It is important that you have the edge peeking out with the fold..but in my case, it is just an edge (not a fold)

Punch all the way around, carefully lining up the punched edges with the edge of the curve of the punch. Try not to overlap it, otherwise you will not end up with a very pretty scallop circle.

Voila! (you can see in this one, I goofed...at the top right side). I got too close to one of the scallops, which you can't tell, but at the end, it was too short for the first punch, which is the straight edge scallop.

After scalloping the edge of a white cardstock, I cut it and added it under the DSP and tied the ribbon using a 5/8" grosgrain ribbon....I think I like the white scallop edging better...I had it without at first, and thought it needed something....

The bird is from Live Your Dream and I lightly stamped the flowers in the background behind the bird....
After mounting it to the card, you can't see the flat edge much..can you?

The DISCONTINUED LIST COMES OUT ON SUNDAY!!! STAY TUNED!
Have a great weekend!
