Stamper in Training!

This is a future Stampin' Up Demonstrator...well at least she might be! My downline friend Ingrid has the cutest little grand daughter, and I remember when she was born!

Now, she's taking on her own artistic directions by stamping with Grammy!

Yazmin (age 5) is so cute and adorable and of course, her punched bunny is just as sweet and cute!

Have a blessed week!

Dissolving Window

Today I did a class on the Dissolving Window or Marquee Card, as Jan Tink called her card. I decided to "simplify" the card and also use the punches that we carry. This was the simple version of the card posted in my last entry.

I used Real Red, Summer Sun, Only Orange, and Green Galore. BRIGHT enough?

It was fun to use bright cheery colors, to make this a happy card!

Wouldn't you want to brighten someone's day with this surprise message?

CLICK on the photo to see a larger image of it, but I think you get how cute it really is!

Dissolving Bee Window Card

Dissolving window card. I got the idea from Jan Tink and I did one before...in different colors. I didn't particularly like the other colors, but I wanted to try to use the large flower punch instead.

I used also my nesties to cut the larger circles. It is hard to match up the designs so I used post its. (pretty clever to match up using post its. so glad for the sticky surface!!)

As you open the card, it reveals the surprise bee!

Isn't it a great card! Thank you Jan for the inspiration!

It also comes from a book Engineering Secrets

How to add Bling to your brads

Adding BLING to brads!

Now, you can make your brad ANY color you want, with BLING! Use any of the glitter stacks, and mini glue dots, and you will have a brad that will bring more bling to your cards or scrapbook pages!

I took a glue dot (using a tweezer)

Placed it on the top of the brad. I rolled the sides of the glue dot down so that it goes over the edge

Dip the covered brad into the glitter.

Voila! You now have a custom made brad with BLING!

New Notes with BLING!!

I don't use bling much.
I LOVE bling but I think I like to see it, just not use it...The stamped bottom line is, "Yes, I know there is GliTteR on mY fAcE!"

But, I made a challenge to myself and decided to use Bling on these cards! I stamped the background with the large Rose from Fifth Avenue Floral using the Versamark pad. Using Heat & Stick Embossing powder and Green glitter from Fine Supernova glitter stack, I accented the lines with BLING!
THEN, To add more Bling, I covered brads with Glitter from Fine Cosmo glitter stack (lavendar).

...I will post more cards this week....and yes, I have glitter on my face!

Making Extended pages for your Mini Scrapbook!

So you can see the page better, I decided to make this "tutorial". I used a 6x12" paper
I scored at 6" and 11". Zig Zag fold them

Mark the center of the page with a post it note. Since this is 6" wide, it will be marked at 3:

When you pull out the page after punching, this is what you have! All the pages will be centered PERFECTLY! (well, perfectly is as close as you are perfect to marking the center!)
I arranged the pages so that they will be opposite of each other.

This is what you get as it is closed. I haven't embellished it much yet, but I will get to it, and I also want to leave the girls room to doodle on it. I know that they are very creative when they are given the space...(this page has my daughter's picture on it!) I actually took it which came out better than the (professional) photographer's (my opinion)

Opening up the pages, you can see her friends and some candid shots during the game.

WHY do they have to grow up so fast??

Scrappin Mini Memories for Graduating Basketball Seniors

I have been busy making mini scrapbooks! My daughter is graduating and each year, I made them for the seniors that are graduating from the Basketball Team. This year there are 4 girls who are graduating.
I printed photos from Target (online via Kodakgallery). The bear is from a laser cut company that I scanned and printed photographs. Now is the time I wish I had a cricut! One of the features I put in is an extended page. I took a 12x12 sheet, cut in 1/2
The Basic Black cardstock is 6 x 12. I scored it at 6", 11". The page extends out and will hold 2 more photos now!

I added only 1 of these originally to this book, but when I did my daughter's book, I added 2 of them (more). So, I might have to add a few more pages so that the girls can add more pictures that they have of their own..

On the last page, I used an envelope which I attached so that it would be a pocket. I figure there are little extra stuff that they can tuck in.
The designer paper is vellum discontinued from Stampin' Up! from a few years ago.
I used my Bind it All to finish the book!

Felted bag, with flannel and corduroy!

Flannel flowers! I used corduroy and flannel to make these flowers. They're soft and so cute, and the colors are just yummy enough to put on a baby outfit, or a cute bag!

Folding and then layering them and then twisting the colors so that they don't lay on top of each other (alternating the fabric so it won't be too strong on any side is good!)

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER...
on another cute little knitted felted bag. This is a cute little girl's purse, that can be made larger for a MOM's bag as well!

Mini Storage Solutions for Scrapbooking Supplies

HAPPY THURSDAY!

I saw this on bhg.com and I loved the bright spring colors! Since I love cupcakes, this also appealed to me as to how to use my cupcake holder when there isn't any cupcakes in it! I love all the cute springy colors, and the fun storage ideas as well. I saw a great wire cupcake holder at Target as well, that might hold little jars, like glitter and embossing powders, which I might just have to run out and get it....hmm....

Lots of ideas to store, and cute too! Maybe something will be the perfect thing for you! I love shopping at Walmart, Target in the most unusual places because if you think out of the box for storage, you might be inspired to make a card or two to send to friends! LOOK Closely at some of the stamps...do you see Stampin' Up!?

If I sign up 1 more person, I get to see a preview of the NEW 2010 - 2011 CATALOG & IDEA BOOK!, and if you're the new person I sign up, I get to help you choose a set too! (my gift to YOU!)

Extreme Surfin'

I have been drooling over a technique that I have seen on a blog, called the Zindorf technique. I was amazed at how wonderful her technique is....
Brayering and layering color, to create a backgroun and to create (and enhance) any stamp to make it pop!
I haven't taken her class, but I did find her blog and decided to try my amateur hand at it!
I love how it creates depth and although I need more work...the beginning is there...!

The cardstock was white, and I brayered Bashful Blue, Taken with Teal, Tempting Turquoise, and Brilliant Blue, and the Sun was created using So Saffron.
The surfer is the EXTREME Surfboard, which living by the beach, I just had to have it! I also used BACKGROUNDS MINI (you have to have this set!) to create more movement of the water. The white gel pen also enhances the water movement.
Now, I know this isn't great, but, it is a start, and it helped me to use this stamp (which I bought to create some cards and other stuff for my daughter and her friends! - wink wink!)

Things I love...

Sometimes, when you see a set in the catalog, it looks like a fun set, but it isn't something you need. But I NEED CHOCOLATE! I love chocolate!
But, I didn't get this set right away. I decided to get other sets that I NEEDED to have. But as I would peruse through blogs, I would find cards using this set that was just too much!
Like a box of chocolates....(run forest run) I had to cave in and just get it!
It was fun and delicious at the same time! (yes I was eating chocolates too!)

I scalloped the edge of the white cardstock (and it isn't hard but you do have to think about how you want to cut the card prior to the size, because it is tricky to get it to be the right size. The scallop edge punch takes off a little bit more than 1/4 of an inch.
The chocolate has chocolate glitter on it (of course!) and the sizzix swirls draw your eye to the chocolate treat!

Girls' Day...a week late

Girls day is late in the Shiozaki House! I was doing other projects, so it had to wait until this week! I used the punches (except for the body I used the Dog Tag -retired) The Sending LOVE Specialty paper looks like Cherry Blossoms don't you think?

Girls day is a Spring Celebration and called Ohinamatsuri in japanese. (o-hina-ma-suri)

The hair was created using the extra wide oval punch, and cut with bangs. The obi (or belt/sash) is glitter paper from the sending Love specialty paper, and the black cording is black cardstock cut thinly and then tied in a knot.
I'm sad that the Dog Tag punch was retired, but it is perfect for the kokeshi body....

I used the 3/4" circle punch to create the face and used color pencils for the cheeks, sharpie for the eyes. The flower was punched from Pretty in Pink and a pink brad finished the center. The doll is mounted on Embossed Pretty in Pink cardstock and then layered over the designer paper.

Challenge Week...Just Jawin' POP UP!

Don't you just love it when you have one of those idea books that is written by some talented author, but when you look at the photos, you have no idea on how to construct or figure out what they are trying to show you how to make??

I had alot of those books. I gave it away to a friend, and then...wouldn't you know it, I went to Jan Tink's blog and she had another card that she made, and she gave reference to the original book!!!

So, I did a search on the book via Amazon.com, and lo and behold! I found it..!!! It was given to my friend to sell on Amazon! (embarrassment and shame!) So, I asked her for it back but to find the instructions, and on the way, I found the instructions for this card!

So, this is a NEW pop up! I pulled out and dusted off, this set that was tucked way in the back of my cabinet, and decided to make a pop up card with it!

I love how the words pop up as the skull goes down! It is bright and cheery, (for a skull) but it just ROCKS! I added a few other things to change the original idea, but it is there...you have to look at it under a different light (*GRIN*)

Taken with Teal, Crushed Curry, and Real Red, accented with Black and whisper white cardstock!

What a fun pop up card this was! It is funny what you can make when you "SEE" something and figure out how someone thinks. I know that I am a visual person, where I need to "SEE" something to create it. So, just looking at a book isn't alway easy, it is better to touch or demonstrate how to make certain things, which is how I learn!

Simple Card for you!

I love this FREE set! It is a SALE A BRATION set! I have a customer (I won't tell you who!) but she hates to color. (GASP!) So I was reading a few blogs and came across Shelli's blog (Stampin' Up!) and saw this cute card! I changed the format a bit and the colors, but this is what I came up with!

Stamp the image on 3 different papers. I used small strips, and then cut it out. Stamp the image on the white cardstock as well. Then, adhere them to your card, and scallop the edges, tie ribbon..and Voila! you're done!
NO COLORING! How simple is this!!!
