Greetings from convention!

I am having a great time, and it has been really nice here. The flow is nice, and we're all having a great time stamping and swapping trades! I have almost traded (given away) all of my scissor charms!

I don't have photos, because I can't download them to this computer, but I hope to post some later...

THE new Catalog is AWESOME! I think you will love them, and the NEW Home Decor is so cool! The next Phase will be even more awesome than the first, and I wasn't as thrilled with it....but...I think even the most skeptical will love it! I can't reveal it to you now, but I think the details will be coming out more tomorrow...

Shelly spoke to us about some of the new things coming, but left a lot of teasers...isn't that always the case? leaving us all hanging in suspense!!!

I bought lots of goodies that I might even do a blog giveaway after I get back!

I will be back on Sunday, and so far, Convention, Day 1 I have taken over 700 photos!

Red Riding Hood

Red Riding Hood is the New In-color RED!

It is magenta-ish, with a touch of rose.
It has a nice feel to it, and I think you will like the color!!!

Again, scallop edges accent the green. I know you'll love using the scallop punch!!! It is much easier than using the other methods!!! (other than scissors!) but this is STRAIGHT! So, for all of us challenged people who can't cut straight, this is the ToOl for yOu!

Scallop Flower Square Card

Bella Rose..isn't it a great name?
I love this paper. I am finding that I use a lot of the Designer papers, because they do the color choices for me! I love that!
I used the Scallop circle punch, and cut the petals apart, then used the crimper on folded DSP, and then cut it oval, like a leaf.
Also, the scallop edge punch, to create the sweet scalloped edge....would that work cut? (I will try it sometime!)
I am at convention...or at least arriving soon!!!

Sakura Blossoms

In Japan, Spring usually means Cherry Blossoms...well, I usually miss them, and I have seen them only in photographs. When I was in Washington DC, we missed them by a couple of weeks, but wouldn't you know, my brother was there that week that they bloomed, and they were simply beautiful. It was breathtaking!!!

Well, I don't expect this to take your breath away like real Cherry Blossoms, but I hope this inspires you to take a look at the 5 Petal Flower (or Star Flower as I call it) in a different light!

First, you punch one. I used Pink Pirouette.

Then, take the tip, and place it in the pointed part of the petal, and punch

It punches out the tip, like this. Repeat and do it to all 5 petals. I did 2 more, and repeated the process.

Now, to give it color. Whenever I see the Sakura Blossoms, I usually see it in Pinks, Reds, and whites. I didn't use white but I accented the edges with Pink Pirouette first.

It gives the edges a nice soft pink to it. It is very soft, but enough to color the petals a litte.

To make it more dramatic, I used the Red Riding hood and sponged it around the edges more.

After, I stamped the center using the stamens from Fabulous Flowers...(you have to get this set..it is just perfect for this!!!)
I then attached it using dimensionals, to the Kiwi colored dsp and used the Scallop punch to create the edge with Black cardstock on the Red Riding Hood Cardstock.

I am going to post more entries which will be automatically added each day. I will try to send some photos from convention too!!!

I hope you all have a great week, and look forward to posting more......after I get back from Convention!

Scissor Charms

I had these little wedding favor boxes that I purchased at Michaels' and was going to take them for swaps at convention, but, I think they will be a little too hard to swap out...
I know I will have lots of charms to swap out at convention...but to get some of the charms out...I thought I would put them in these cute boxes. I thought I would incorporate the new In-Colors and the NEW Bella Rose DSP, and make a cute box to hold the scissor charms in.

This is the Monkey Charm glass blown bead- Baja Breeze Scallop flower, and the Chocolate chip dotted dsp, and the kiwi kiss dsp and the NEW Button accessory

This one is a silver charm, ...I love Brighton, and so this one is for those of you who love Brighton-esq jewelry...why not have a scissor charm to match? (you can see it better in the above photo)
Pink Pirouette Scallop flower and the gingham check and kiwi kiss dsp with a red button

Keiki Cards

I was asked to tell you about a not-for-profit company, Keiki Cards by one of my blog readers. It's a Honolulu based company that sends handmade cards out to sick children in the States. It will be shutting down their operation due to lack of funding. They'd like to continue as long as they can since they have an abundance of cards. What they need most now are postage stamps and monetary donations (to send out the cards that they do have).

I hope we're not overstepping boundries, but we thought that this blog that could "reach" out to more people than just emails could in a day. Spread the word and see if people could send in postage stamps or monetary donations than the company can stay in operation a little while longer.

it might be too late, but I did try to go to the site, and there is a link for paypal...

Saw it at Rite Aid

This was a card at RITE AID....doesn't it look like our Bella Rose Papers???

And this...doesn't the little cupcake look so cute? We can create this look with our cupcake from Party Hearty...
And this one....does it look familiar at all??
I really think it looks like some of our DSP's!

And I have been looking at this green paper...it does look like our papers from the Spring Break, or one of the other DSP's.....
These were all for gift cards at Rite Aid....
Wow, does Stampin' Up! stay with the trend? or are they a trend maker?

Convention swap Tote?

While shopping at Walmart..actually I had to return something and then I needed to get more charm straps for my scissor charms....and..I found this cool box/bag/sewing basket thing at Walmart. It has a cover that flaps over ,and side pockets for stuff, and then inside has divided areas for swaps!
.......I have to say that I have been busy stamping my swaps..!! I have a lot stamped and well, there will be lots that will NOT be stamped..but they will be in cute little baggies. Will people still swap with me? I hope so!

I have received a few emails of people telling me that they will be looking for me! THANK YOU!
I don't know that I will like taking these back home!

This is the price...not bad....

Again, it was sitting on the shelf. There was another one that I think was blue (denim looking?)...I forgot..didn't take a photo and my short term memory is shot, right now...lol
I have been too busy stamping, getting my direct tv cable line fixed that the dog did something too....(yes, we still have DESTRUCTO DOG) and getting estimates in fixing my sliding glass door that the dog destroyed...(It is very expensive to fix a sliding glass door..in fact, they are telling me that i have to replace the whole door, and it might not even fit.) and packing the suitcase for convention.....plus getting groceries for my DD who will be home with the destructively cute sweet neurotic dog.....
Does anyone want a golden retriever??cute, but destructive...???

Getting ready for the New Catalog

My stamps...the ones with the Yellow stickers are on the Dormant List...the ones without stickers are current ones (for the NEW catalog)

I think I did pretty good, with all the Dormant ones, and getting better with the retired ones. I had a photo of that.

Today, I wasn't stamping much. I did work on more charms, but...I was cutting papers for the Amazing Scrapbook (SQUASH book) for the Missionary children that will be coming to Southern California, the week after next. Although I won't be able to help them, I was cutting up some of the Discontinued Stampin' Up Papers to help make the kid's books come out spectacular. I donated the decorative papers. Some of them were the double sided papers, but some were also the single sided sheets.

I folded the packages of certainly celery and basic black, and we cut the chipboard covers, and all the triangles, and put them individually in packages. This way my friend (who tells everyone who will listen that she is not crafty, and gets migraines when she thinks of crafting)....She will look prepared, and ready to go!

Hint of what's to come!

Don't you just love the computer!? To be able to sit in front of the computer screen in your pj's or NAKED! and talk with your fingers to your heart's content!??? ...or order late at night after everyone is in bed asleep?? Or if you're like me, and suffer from headaches, depression or sleep apnea or ADHD and sleep at odd hours, you're wide awake at 3:10 am......STAY TUNED for news that will be coming up soon!!!

curious???

don't forget...stay tuned!

Cutie Pie Envelope Book

I was going through my things, and in the back of my mind..I knew I had the NEW Catalog and Idea book, but I didn't want to open it up because I wanted to wait until convention to look at it with my friends...
Can I wait until next week to see what will be new in the catalog? I knew I had strong resistance and I was a strong person..and could just let it sit there, and not open the book.......
Well, in dreams, it always works out that way, doesn't it? In reality, it would never be that way....!!!!
I was going through my papers (really) and saw that I still had a few packs of this paper and an opened one, so...pulled it out and started cutting and playing.

I am going to miss this paper. It is going to retire, but the cute, bright colors are so cheerful..and I love the wasabi ribbon, and the striped ribbon (not retiring)...
I did the same thing to these envelopes that I did to the other book by folding in the flap, and covering both sides of the envelope. The inside is a small strip that just peeks out. I can put receipts inside as a folder type, or..some other photo ...I didn't make 'pages with the tabs' because I wasn't quite sure how I was going to use this yet....
Convention is 8 days.....I will be flying out with my fellow demonstrators on Tuesday next week....

Mini Boxes for my charms

I have been thinking of how to make a box with a lid.....so...I think I have found a good way to make them..and to put in a window!!

I punched the circle for the window using the 1 3/8" circle punch, and adhered some window plastic to the inside. I put in the little baggie with the charm inside. These cute boxes are only 2x2x1!...

The little strap things are supposed to arrive today...so I can finish them off!

It is very simple, but fun...and already I have made 4 of them....all in the NEW colors!!!

Baja Breeze (light blue)
Kiwi Kiss (green...)
Pink Pirouette (light pink)
Riding Hood Red....
and...I used the New In-Color inks too!!!

but, I really love these boxes..and I am going to eventually make them in bigger sizes...for some cool projects!!! (wouldn't it be cool to make boxes for your gift cards, or box of cards???)

ONLY 11 DAYS til CONVENTION 2008!!

All the 6 NEW In-Colors...coming YOUR way..AUGUST 11th!!!...soon to a demonstrator near you!

or maybe, ...if you want to sign up..you can get them to your house now???

Scissor Charm Hostess Gift

These are without the straps....ran out of them..so I am waiting to get them in...(tomorrow)....

This is the Monkey charm...(it is silly but I thought they were cute in the catalog..) If I was SMART, I would've purchased the sock monkey stamp set to make cute little boxes with that....but I don't really like sock monkeys...they kinda scare me (same as clowns too which really scared me after Poltergist!!!)

Grandma's FAMILY book part 2

This one, I had 2 photos that my sister in law sent to me, that had her son, and their new dog..(our 'old' dog..) Well, she's happy now, with her new name GOLDIE !

I had 2 pictures and it didn't seem right to have 2 pages with almost the same photo, so I made this one tuck behind the first one. I cut a slit in the page protector so that it can be removed, and slid back in...

I was thinking NINJA Warriors..but they are PLAYSTATION Warriors...

I used craft ink and then the white gel pen which...as it usually happens, writes beautifully when you're practicing, but as soon as you get to the real thing, it messes up...
But, whenever the boys get together, this is where they go....they can sit and play this thing for hours..and never even come out for food..unless someone makes them eat...lol
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a sneak peek at my convention trades...it is a start...I am going to make some simple stamped cover for it..they are Scissor charms...Great for identifying your scissors, and also for hostesses, and downlines...
Do you think that people would want to trade for them???
This is one of my favorite ones...it is a monkey!!! lol..but I did kitty cats, and dragonfly, butterfly..etc...and I am getting some more beads for more charms....
I hope I get rid of all of them...I think I have about 40 done already, and then I have about 50 + more done, without the hanging part....but, I hope to do around 200....
What will I do if I end up coming home with all of them??? YIKES!!!
Let me know what YOU think of them.....!!!
Grandma's FAMILY book
I betcha...that most of you look at your photos and then look at your stash to see what can be used to create your album....
Well this album was done opposite...I had this paper, and (probably soon to retire)....so, I wanted to make a scrapbook...had the book and the cardstock...and decorative papers.
I then had to look at all the photos I take to see what I could do with the papers....
LOL
backwards, right???
Well.......I thought it would be nice to get a little jump on my Christmas gifts...
My mom doesn't have a book yet of all the kids. I have been taking photos of my nephews for a time..and so, now I thought, it would be good to get the boys all together in 1 album. I made my mom an album with photos from our trip to Orlando, but this time, I would just do it of the family....
I had taken pictures of the boys at various event, and my brother's step son..which is part of the family...they will soon be getting a sister, since they're trying to adopt from China.
I like the albums in the magazines, although they look cluttered sometimes, they have a sense of scattered controlled chaos...which is often times, how my nephews are...controlled chaos...
Each boy has their own individuality..and they shine in their own way...
I have these pages almost done, and the rest will be done this coming weekend. I want to have it done before I leave for Convention, but I thought I would share what I had completed already,...
My sister in law...
we went to eat breakfast, and so I snapped a couple of shots of her...did I get my brother...her husband??? NO!..so I have to still get some of him......
