Halloween Swinging!

I was thinking of this set the other night and how could I make it a moveable card...so...I started thinking of making it a chain....of course at first I was going to add beads, and I probably will do some shrinky dink earrings but this was my card version. The feet dangle, and after my visit to Hollywood, the song Hollywood swingers was going through my head..maybe that's too crazy?

So, to create this swinging feet, I stamped and cut out the feet. Reinforced the top by layering a small piece to the backside. I punched a hole using a pin. The dangle part was made, using a piece of cardstock 1.5" x 1". I scored it in 1/3's and then adhered it. I then punched another hole using a pin. The ring goes through the hole and attaches the feet.
The other elements of the scallop circle and hat, is attached to the mechanism by using dimensionals doubled up. (to make it thicker to accomodate the ring). It can have a pin attached to the back too!
TODAY is the last day of the month! Get ready for the Holidays!!!

Julie's not in Kansas anymore!

My friend, and fellow demonstrator, Julie Ward, came to visit me this last weekend. We had a great time traveling all over LA this weekend and seeing some of the sights.

One of the days, we went to Disneyland, and decked out in Halloween garlands and pumpkins all over! The only thing was, this was one of the HOTTEST weekends! I think we broke records all over LA! It was well over 100 degrees, and we sweated it out as we walked and walked!

We visited Beverly Hills, Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Long Beach (my home), Anaheim, Duarte (our upline meeting) and Hollywood! We walked the stars, Grauman's Chinese Theater, Kodak Theater, and Hollywood sign! Julie loves Duran Duran, so we saw their star too!
She went home on tuesday (yesterday) and I miss her....but it sure was fun!!!

Julie's not in Kansas anymore!

Having fun watching the sunset at Seal Beach, and visiting the Santa Monica Pier as well as just spending time with a friend!
MDS can create your photo pages to be as full as you want, or highlight just 1 photo! I love how you can mat each photo to match your background paper! You can 'stamp' and add accessories to each page as well!

Sweet Treat Candy Wrappers

TO make this Treat Candy Wrapper, I wanted to show you how to make the window! I punched out a piece of white paper and laid it on the section where I wanted to punch it out. I found that I was having problems punching the hole in the RIGHT PLACE!
Don't ya love it when you have a great idea! This sure made it easier to place the oval in the right place!
I also have clear acetate (window plastic) in the inside of the box, and it shows what you put inside your little treat wrapper! I used candy cane taffy since I couldn't find individually wrapped baggies of candy corn this year (not like in past years!) WHERE are they this year hmmm???

Halloween Candy Wrapper

I walk down the aisles in the stores and all I see is Halloween and Christmas...Now I am ready for fall. I love the smell of the air and the crisp coolness.
I decided to use my candy corn and my Candy Wrapper die to make my treats today! I am going to use this for my upline's meeting on Saturday. She has a ticket drawing for those that come "On-time"....and so this will be a cute little take away project!

I die cut the wrappers out of the Stampin' Up Sizzix die called Candy Wrapper and then punched the hole with the Large Oval punch. The black scallop frame is created by first punching out the large oval and then centering the opening through the scallop punch. Makes a great frame, don't you think? And, you keep the punched out area for another use!
I didn't use candy corn but taffy that looks like candy corn. I used to tell my daughter that candy corn was poison. She stayed away, and I never had to give into temptation to BUY these darn candies!
What is your favorite Halloween Candy??

Fall into Halloween

I didn't know what to call this card. Or this posting! I guess since this is the last weekend of Summer, and we are falling into fall.....I envisioned this card in progressions. I first saw the two textured pieces, and then layering the scallop circle and the bow being tied. I cut slits in the white cardstock, (which is sponged) and so it adds another dimension to the card.

Close up - you can see that there is an uneveness to the sponging. It isn't solid So Saffron, but accented with some Pumpkin Pie. I used Old Olive on the grassy area. The trees were embossed which really makes it more dramatic, I think. I am going to make a resolution this next year to use my embossing powders and glitters..!!!

I love them, but I always forget to use them!

Space Cadette & Halloween Treats

It has been a few days since I last posted, and since being home alone, this was my first week of the "EMPTY NEST". I am not complaining. I have been so happy to clear out stuff out of the house. I haven't been able to stamp much lately. I did sit down, and I have to confess, it did take me a few days to get into gear to stamp. This card is double stamped. I stamped it in black and then stamped it again in Craft black, and Embossed it with black detail embossing powder.
I then drizzled glitter over the surface, and then spritzed Silver Shimmer all over. The "a little treat" was stamped in black on Pumpkin Pie, and then I layered it over Rich Razzleberry. I then used Crystal Effect over the edge, and used PURPLE glitter on top! I love how it just drizzles down.
So...my halloween card, isn't very halloween, is it! This year, we're not making your typical Halloween card. Just the colors, and making it look festive!
Supplies:
Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Basic Black
Ink: Black
stamps: Medallion, Got Treats,

Home Sweet Home

It seems that as if I am just out of sorts, but we all have those personal things that go on in our lives that just get in the way of doing the things that we love...but those things that need to be done are done out of love for those that we love!

I had to get my daughter off to college. On Monday Sept 13, was move-in day for Cal Poly SLO. We got up there on Sunday, and stayed at my relative's house, and then early on Monday, we got up and drove up to the campus, and then got all the stuff out of the car, and into the dorm
room. We were the first ones in!

I am doing a swap where I have to write in Notebooks...and decorate them. I decided that I love this owl and they don't have to match so, I punched out a whole bunch of owls, in bright colors, and separated them into little baggies.

To assemble, you just pull out each piece and create your owl face! Isn't it just too cute! I can keep punching out more colors, and just saving the pieces. Each owl will be as unique as I can possibly make them! I can add the googlie eyes, or just glue the little eyeballs on!
I love how simple this owl is and yet HOW CUTE!!

I love using my Big SHOT! It sure makes card making so much easier! If you're making a bunch of cards, and want to create special effects, the Big Shot can cut any amount of cards that you want it to! I love using the Top Note Die, in fact, so much that I wore one out already! I think I just kept using it and using it...and it just got bent up on one side (or I put in too many pieces!! lol)
I ran it through the texture folder (Vintage Wallpaper) after die cutting the Top Note die.

Round Robin Notebook Swap!

KNITTING TAGS.............
Ravelry is one of the other groups that I belong to. I love to visit the pages and see what other knitters are doing and also to get free patterns and ideas for my next project!

I am now, getting more involved in a swap, it is a notebook swap! Round Robins means that this book will go to the next person on the list. I decorated my book, which is just a composition book by covering the pages with scrapbook paper, and other things so that it has a little bit of me. I didn't think it out very well, so it isn't very ....um..ME, but I did stamp a few things for it.

What I decided to do, was to stamp these knit tags for the people in the swap, for each of them to take one of these. Hopefully, they will only take 1..since there won't be enough for 2 tags.......
I stamped the tags on Crumb Cake cardstock in Basic Black, and then punched a 1/8" hole. I added the trio flower punch in Real Red (retired punch) and then added a piece of string for the tag. It is attached to the front cover in a clear bag.

Inside the book, I stamped a title which says 'loving ravelry" I stamped the knitted sweaters as a border in Marina Mist
Underneath, I wrote all the things I like about ravelry.
It isn't what you put in the book - you just have to put things in. I am giving each person involved 3 pages, and they are all marked with a post it.
RAVELRY is FREE! All you have to do is sign in and register. You can be from any country, in any language, and knitters/crocheters are welcomed! There are sub groups within and you can be a Stampin' Up! demo, scrapbooker, or Single mom, Christian, love Slow Cookers, etc etc etc....
click on the word RAVELRY anywhere in this post...and it will take you there!
I also decided to use the knit stamps because maybe...I might get some interest in selling the stamps...heh heh...you never know!!!

Noel, Let it Snow!

Let it snow!

I think this snowman is cute! And he doesn't need very much color in order for it to be done!

The large scallop die makes a perfect size for a snowflake card. i used the Candy Cane Christmas designer paper and layered it over the whisper white, Real Red, and then on Baja Breeze cardstock.

Die cut snowflake and the stamped image is over the die cut letters (Billboard alphabet)

Christmas cards can be simple and fun. I layed little loops to make the decorative ribbon on this card. I cut 4 pieces and looped 3 of them. The last one I left straight, and cut the swallow tail. These were all layered together.

A Cute...Christmas

The weather is changing...we didn't get much of a summer this year, so does that mean we're headed for a colder winter?

I think we can use the rain but I am not sure how much of the rain we will really see here in Southern California! AND...I certainly don't think we'll get snow, at least not here in Long Beach!

This is one of the new sets, called "A CUTE CHRISTMAS"
Cute set of 9 stamps, all sweet and ready to color in (or not!) The simple lines make it easy to color, or accent in a little color.

I used Basic Black to stamp and color pencils to color in
Real Red, Bashful Blue and Whisper White
Cardstock
Candy Cane Christmas Designer Paper
Sparkle Brad - Subtles
Pinking heart border punch
1" circle punch
1 1/4" circle punch

Dazzling Diamond glitter

You...mean the world 2 ME

Texture is fun. Isn't it more attractive to see and feel texture in the cards that we can now make?

I look at cards that I used to stamp years ago, and think that it was so simple. Stamp, cut out the image, and stamp another image, and layer, and done. NOW, you can texture the pieces, and it adds even more dimension!
You can see the texture on the punched flower, and then on the saffron background bordered by the pinking hearts in whisper white.

The center of the flower was stamped twice and then cut out for added dimension....
