Summer by the Sea - Dormant not retired

Summer by the Sea....well, this is not by the sea, but it is by a lake...
I dug out one of my OLD retired sets, called Wide Open Spaces, and used it for the background for this card....
I colored it in using my SU markers and copics. I used both because I wanted to have the truer colors of Stampin Up, plus I wanted the trees stamped....
I am not an 'artist', but I feel like one when I can make it look like this...
One thing I need to add...if I was on a row boat, I would NOT be sitting on the bow with my feet hanging over..let's just hope she's got someone else on the boat weighing down the other side!....lol

Less than 30 days to Convention 2008!

Tart & Tangy Micro-Beads

Most of the time, I copy ideas and gather bits together...to make my cards...
But, I really wanted to make a fun tribute to this stamp set...it is going to be gone..as of MONDAY June 30th. I really love Cherries, so I wanted a final card made with this set. I used an idea that was at SCS for the microbeads and the Tart & Tangy, ...and used it as a strip instead of just the fruit (strawberry)..but that was a cool effect too!

I used the sticky tape (actually, I got it from Michaels, since it is wider,) but if you use the sticky tape that Stampin' Up! carries, it will work as well. I then took my micro beads and layered it on top of the stamped image...and it looks like sugary candy on top of the fruit stamped paper......

Stamp a Stack

Stamp a stack cards are supposed to be easy and fast to do...
The object of doing Stamp a Stacks is to make cards quickly and to build your stash of cards for gifts, and thank you, birthdays etc...and to be able to keep a sample for your stash of cards to refer to. It is also a good way for demonstrators like me to get rid of cardstock that we have too much of, or if we over bought a special or two...hence, I am using up most of what I have left of the Wild Wasabi Cardstock....I am using the Petals set that is on special, but not the petal notecard...(shame on me! I wanted to do both, but it won't be an efficient way to use the stamp set...) I figure, I have a few samples of the petal die cut cards done, so they can see my project samples.
The Wonderful card is scoped from SCS, by Michele at http://www.micheleforce.blogspot.com/ she used the tempting turquoise with creamy caramel, and chocolate chip. I decided to use Really Rust, Chocolate Chip and Tempting Turquoise for my version....

My friend Ernestine came over, and told me to use coffee for the last card since people like coffee...so with the Afternoon tea DSP and the coffee cup from Pun Fun.....I came up with this little note card....
It will also come with some envelopes......3x3 size....
This class is set for today (Saturday) at 11:00 am....don't miss the next Stamp a Stack!

Stamp a Ma Jig

Have you tried to stamp something only for it to come out crooked or not even on the piece you're trying to stamp?
This is a piece that I MIGHT be able to stamp it somewhat straight, but then I would have to visit my chiropractor to adjust my neck after leaning waaaay over to see exactly were I was going to hit the piece....and then growl as I realize that I had missed the piece and it was crooked.

First, if the piece is too small for the imaging sheet, you will need to keep the piece stable and not move. (THIS is important!)
I place a small amount of Snail on the placemat. I rub my finger on it, so that it is just tacky and won't actually adhere my piece to the placemat (yes, I have done that!)

Place it on the placemat over the dot of snail.

Lay your imaging sheet over the piece centering it as you like. This piece can be any size. Line up the stamp a majig and remove imaging sheet

Stamp your image with your stamp lining it up with the Stamp a ma jig. Remove the stamp..and Voila!

I made another pop up, even using a different size circle and different cardstock...this time, Night of Navy...!!!
This is for my friend, who's birthday is July 1st. I have been friends with him since I was in Jr. High school, and after he met his wife, I was really good friends with her....we were instant friends, after we met at College Camp for our church......and it was a blessing that they both hooked up together.....! They moved and now live in Spokane....miss them both and their family........
Happy Birthday Joe!

Well, I have almost posted everyday of this month....I am exhausted..I can only hope I can challenge myself to keep on stamping and posting new ideas..and stuff...
maybe it is simple, but I hope you are enjoying what I share...

A demonstrator (Debbie McNeill) has all the retiring stamps listed and (photographed) on her blog...this is the link...check it out if you want to take the time, but she did a great job...

Occasions Mini Catalog is ending on June 30th

I said I was going to post something NOT Riot of Petals...

lol...So, I found some scored cardstock from the last time I made these bottle flavor holders...and decided that since they were Night of Navy, I could make something festive for the 4th of July.....do you realize this is only a week away? Where is the summer going?

I used the Rub ons on the Night of Navy Cardstock (the small star) in the center, and then punched it out using the small star punch, and punched the larger star out of the DSP (from the Hostess set - package of papers) The rub on is from the Anchored set (page 182)
I love the Paisley design..don't you? It reminds me of summers, red bandanas, and running around barefoot on the hot concrete sidewalks in the SF Valley, and running through grassy areas, just to cool off the feet...and I remember climbing the plum tree in my front yard and eating the juicy red plums that it had...escaping from the heat in the cool tree...and from my mom too....
My brother and I used to sit for a few hours in that tree, and with all the leaves, we could hide for a while from doing any chores....(bad children, huh!) but..we'd pay the price by sitting in the bathroom for a long time afterwards...(we ate too many plums..but they were so sweet and yummy!)
Don't miss out on the Summer Occasions Mini Catalog

Going soon! Make sure you have your order for ANY of the items in this book....After Monday, June 30th, you will have to see what will be available in the new catalog when it is released in August!...........

More Riot of Petals Pop Up

Using the Circle Coluzzle, I cut a large circle and did the same colors and stamps...
I added a ring of DSP (Afternoon Tea) to the circle shape cut out on the front cover layer. Be sure that you have enough room to place the ring around the cut area, and to the edges. It is easier with a smaller circle, but it will work with it if you place your coluzzle over the cut area, to check to see if it fits within the lines of the coluzzle.
I just love this Riot of Petals stamp...remember, this is on the Dormant list...so it will still be available during the Christmas Holidays. My friend told me it looked like it could be a Christmas Card...what do you think?
well, maybe it will keep my thoughts cool through this heat wave!!!
I promise, I will have something different tomorrow...and it won't have Riot of Petals in it....lol....

Pop Up Card

To start off making the pop up, you will first need 2 sheets of cardstock cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/4. Score them both in the center.

Measure the front side at 2 1/8 and mark it with a piece of tape (I used the masking tape that will not stick and tear the paper after being removed).
I then placed the oval coluzzle over the front of the card, centering the oval at the tape edge.

I cut the 1/2 oval (or circle).

Repeat it to the other cardstock, and then you will score at that tape line. One you will score the oval, the other, you will score above and below the oval.
The card that you scored above and below, you will need to score the other side (1/2)
They will then, look like this.
<----------------

Lay the 2 cards on top of the other
-Putting the card that is scored 3 times in the inside, with the mountain fold in the center.
The other card will be below, with the valley fold in the center.

Use adhesive on the end without the ovals together.

Then place adhesive on the oval with the score. (just the oval area)
Attach the ovals together.

Then, adhere the ends together. This will form the front edge of the card. It will fold and match the back of the card.

The oval will bend towards the back (fold of the card).

Adhere your design to the oval section, and stamp as you like! I am going to see what else I can create with this ...and I will post more samples!

THIS CLASS will be offered on July 18, at 6:30 pm. RSVP now! see my calendar at 30 boxes ------>

Riot of Petals Pop up Card

I have been trying to come up with a way to make this type of pop up easy..

I think I have finally figured out a way to make it simple!
Using Coluzzle ovals and my excess Handsome Hunter cardstock..I am finally getting some progress in doing both~!!!

Tomorrow I will show you how to make this card a snap! You will definitely want to try to make this one!

I colored it in with Copic markers, but you can also use the Stampin' Up! markers too.....

Stay tuned for tomorrow!

Riot of Petals

Riot of Petals is a lovely stamp..at first, though, when you look at it, you see lots of drawn lines, and coloring!

I know Sandy, my friend, hates to color....well, this is easy..not really coloring, and fast!

Does it look complicated?

I stamped it in Versamark and then embossed it with Fine Gold embossing powder.

Afterwards, I took an old DOVE Blender pen, and dipped it in the White Craft INK, and then blended the ink from a re-inker (Rose red) onto the white ink. After it dries, I took a Kleenex and wiped the excess away. I love the colors, and looking forward to making more of them with other stamped images.

Riot of Petals is on the DORMANT list for this next catalaog...but, you shouldn't wait too long....!!!

It will be gone if it isn't popular!

Now, I want to share a couple of great POP UP books with you. This is a book of Paper Engineering, and the author is Carol Barton.

I got them though Amazon.com, and they are really a nice addition to making pop ups! Book 1 is simple basic pop ups. Book 2 is Platforms and Props.

Book 1 also has a mailing that you can send away for patterns to cut up and then both have pockets to store the templates in.....If you see these books at Borders, or Barnes and Noble, be sure to check them out!!!

Half Circle Flap Card

Making a flap using a circle is easy with the Coluzzle!

You can make any size half circle or oval flap using the coluzzle

First, decide on what size card you want to make.

Then, score a piece of cardstock that is the same width of your card 1/2" from the edge. This is where you will line up the Coluzzle. Cut the circle edge from this score line.
Stamp your paper, or use the DSP (Designer Double sided paper)

Then, you line up the coluzzle (in a smaller circle ) either using the same coluzzle or the companion coluzzle which is smaller.

You can then mount it to the card

To make washers: First punch the smaller hole. It makes it easier to line up. Then take the 3/4" circle punch and line up the smaller 1/8" punch in the center (eye it), and then punch it out. For this card, I needed 2 washers.

This is what your washers will look like.

Then stamp your card, in the folded front

stamp the inside

Back view

Front view...all done!

Summer is here, and retiring stamps

Summer is here...can you feel the heat? Well, it is very hot here in California...and although I know other areas around the country and the world get hot too, it doesn't always lend itself to stamping...well, especially if you don't have air conditioning....

When I lived in the SF Valley, I had air conditioning..well, you have to! It is just too darn hot there. I live now in Long Beach...usually, in the past, there was about 6 days of really hot weather, but usually we get the nice beach ocean breeze...today, at 9:00 am (saturday)...IT IS HOT! I need to go to the gym, but I am procrastinating..so I decided to stamp a card using this DORMANT stamp set, Summer by the Sea. I am going to send this to my boss' daughter, (age 6) who will be going away for her first summer church camp. She's so cute and tiny, and precious! Her daddy (my boss) is going too, to be a counselor for the 3rd grade boys. I think he's a little intimidated! (9 boys..i think he'd rather be in the office with 5 ladies, and his wife at home!)

Anyways..since this is her first camp, I wanted to make her a card....

This is a simple card, using Copic markers, and Summer by the sea. I decided it needed to be pizzazed up! (did I spell that wrong?) I added the bow and glitter...I am glitter challenged, and I figured that Rebekah will like the glitter, so purple glitter was added to the flowers. I am praying for a good time for Rebekah as well as 2 other people that I am praying for! I sent their cards already, and I did actually attempt to take a photo, but I guess I didn't put the digital card in all the way, and so they didn't 'take'! I used the Crab & Co for those 2 cards. Trust me, they, were really pretty cool!

This is my retired box (for this current catalog)

That's pretty good if I can admire myself! Most of them are older stamps..ha ha...not that old, but they are older, so they've been around for a time...

I will be having a sale soon, to get rid of them, plus, getting rid of older stamps....are you looking for something in particular? (especially before I list them on ebay or such..)

The green sticker is from this current year, and the orange ones were the hostess sets. In my cabinet, the yellow stickers are the dormant ones for me to keep them straight! So, "Summer by the Sea" has a nice yellow sticker on it now!
