Spring is here!

The new papers are so cute! I love the bright and cheery colors!

Using the diagonal score board to create a cross hatch pattern, and then laying the cute little rhinestones on the hearts gives this BLING!

Time passes...friendship stays

I am really enjoying the NEW Springy papers that will be coming out next month! And the new stamp set too!  The phrase is currently in our catalog (curvy verses)...I love how whimsical this set is and the curvy verses goes along with the whimsy look of this card perfectly!

Combining Lucky Limeade and Pear Pizzazz, along with Pool Party and Calypso Coral, the card zings out spring!  If you look in the stores, you will see this tangerine color everywhere!

Artsy Artichokes

Today...I had a little fun stretching my 'artistic' side of Stampin' Up! stamps!  I was at the rubber stamp show this weekend,
and I had forgotten all about my watercolor pencils and "gamsol".
Gamsol is mineral spirits which if you use it, you need good ventilation!.

I pulled out my watercolor pencils and decided to use my artichoke stamp.  I stamped the artichokes in a creative way on Whisper White cardstock. (I used different black ink - not SU's Basic Black)  I then colored each of the artichokes in a different color, using colors that 'go' together...and shading in areas that should be darker, and lighter colors in light areas.

So, this creates a ANDY WARHOL effect which is totally different than my 'usual' style, but I LOVE this card!  It is very colorful and simple!

the Ducks are back

They have been coming for the last 14 -15 years.  It all started when I was in a hurry taking my (then) 5 year old to school and as usual we were late in getting to the car.   I told her come on and hurry get in the garage, and get to the car, as I was loading stuff up for some project we had to do that day at school....my daughter is stopped on the patio staring at the pool and I tell her (scream actually) "HURRY!! get in the car...."  And she proceeds to tell me that there are ducks in the pool.  "YEAH, right, ducks" is my answer.  So as I am grabbing her arm and trying to get her in the garage, I turn to look at what she's staring at, and LO and behold...there are ducks in the pool!

My annual duck visitors....2012

Who would ever think that they would make this an annual thing?!  They've laid eggs over the time but never have they hatched, and mostly because my other dog I had (my golden retriever named Sinjin and then there was Rockie) was crazy to try to swim with the ducks, and I guess, they didn't like that...but they still would come back even with them there......
The egg that they are watching...The female sits on it at night when it is cold....

This year, they are being more diligent in watching their egg. I actually saw the males mate with that 1 female...(the HUSSY!)  but at night, they all come and the males swim while the female sits on the egg...and as I take my little doggies out to pee at night before bedtime, we're careful not to scare the ducks.....

we'll see if something comes out of this one!  Wouldn't that be a cute spring surprise!!!!

Rubber Stamp Convention

So, this is not STAMPIN' Up! related but I did see some really cool cards and ideas. I didn't buy much (really nothing) but had fun looking at the cool items and seeing some of the new things Tim Holtz had to show off. I missed most of his demo's but I didn't want to stay long because it is way too easy to spend money that I don't really need to spend on other companies and other products!

cute Japanese (and Chinese) Kids stamps

Cool carrier for markers! I love how this looks, very sweet and compact!

Petite Purse packed full of.......kisses!

Spring is almost here, and the birds and bees are slowly coming around. I love the new papers that Stampin' Up! allowed us to pre-purchase and I hope you will too!  These bright and cheery colors will make any rainy day seems bright, don't you think?

The New Petite Purse die is a Bigz die that really can jazz up a Birthday party, Bridal Shower, Baby shower or a small gift for a special friend!  I actually put in 9 Hershey kisses inside this little bag!  So although it is small, it can hold a lot!

There are so many things you can do to decorate these!  I'm giving this to my hostess for my next party, along with a few other goodies. I know she loves her Big Shot, and so I am also making a few other boxes to have them on display at the next party so people can see what can be created using Stampin' Up! Exclusive dies!

Quilting was my passion...

I used to love sewing and quilting....that's how I got my email address (dee-quilt)...but I think I got tired of how long it takes to get gratification, and you know, we live in an INSTANT GRATIFICATION world....sad, but true.
I jumped at the chance to get this die and it has taken me a while to do something with it. I pulled out my fabric 121716 Deck the Halls, and although it is a Christmas named fabric, it really has a nice antiquated touch to it, and doesn't have to be just for Christmas!

Dresden die 125597  32.95
http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=125597

I used a scrap piece of fabric to 'hold' the stitches in between so it doesn't waste thread, and makes it easier to put in the next section to sew.  this really helps to cut down the thread snipping after you piece the fabric pieces together.  If you haven't tried, it you really should!

I'm actually making this to be a centerpiece mat for my table, and it is completed I used the 3 1/2" circle die to make the center. I haven't taken a completed photo yet, but it is done!!! (really!)
Today, the BIG ROCK came to Long Beach!  It was transported from Riverside about 100 miles away and traveled through the streets to get to the LACMA - LA County Museum of Art.  This is the first time they have ever moved anything so big since the Pyramids in Egypt...HA...has anyone recorded anything like this since the pyramids?? ...what about stonehenge?  hmmm....

it's MARCH???

I can't believe it is MARCH!!!
I have been so neglecting my blog!
I have been busy working (my 'real' job) and then also trying to get my ideas flowing, and also getting stuff created for new classes, that I havent been posting here!  I have a workshop coming up which I don't do too many home workshops, but I am excited about doing one!~
I have a few newbies that will at this one, plus some experienced stampers so I need something fun and yet easy enough to please all!!!
I decided to do this telescope card because it uses my die cuts, and punches, and yet is very colorful and easy!

It uses Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Delightful Daffodil, and Poppy Parade, along with the Domestic Goddess Designer paper. I love the new Hostess set using all these wonderful BIRTHDAY STAMPS!!!  Just perfect for this card, don't you think?

All you need to do  is to have this party and you can get this stamp set for free, and taking advantage of Sale A Bration, you get even more free stuff!!!!
I love free, don't you?
