Flip Album 2 SWEET!

Amy Celona has a cool tutorial on her site, and I love this album! It is a simple album that uses 1/2 Simply Scrappin kit...
The album is called Flip Album and you can make one simply by following the instructions! I used the 2 Sweet SS kit 113943 19.95 page 165.
You will want to make this for a young lady who might be graduating from Middle School or High school so that she can put in her favorite memories. What a treasure this would be!
http://ustamp4fun.com/ProjectGallery/FlipBK/Flip%20Book.pdf
The colors used in the kit are Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, Basic Gray, and Kiwi Kiss. The papers are "totally" teen themed, but I think that any woman who has a young frame of mind would just adore this!

Sorry for the pages, the day is really gray outside and I couldn't get a good photo without washing it out with my flash....

All that you see as embellishments are from the SS kit...and they accent the decorative papers just perfectly!

Even the words you see are die cut and adhere anywhere you want to place them!!!
Visit Amy's blog and see her other tutorials! You will love them!

Brayered Background Branch Out!

Branch out is really a cool set! I am really loving the trees. I trade to get this set, and so happy that I did!

It was one that I really caught my eye at the beginning of this catalog and I didn't purchase it, due to trying to not buy every set just "because".
So, finally now, playing with it, it is really so sweet.
I brayered the background in So Saffron. For some reason, I was dreaming in So Saffron last night, and thinking of making a card using So Saffron.
I only brayered 2/3's in So Saffron, and then I sponged the ground area using a mask in Always Artichoke, Old Olive and Kiwi Kiss.
I sponged the top corners in Baja Breeze, because it is the sky after all....
I then stamped the tree in Chocolate Chip and then stamped the leaves using Always Artichoke and Old Olive. I wanted to give this a summery cheery look with a calm feeling of making someone feel good. Do you think it achieved this?
It is layered on Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip....ready to send!
READY FOR THE RETIRED LIST???

Making Clouds and Masking

Making clouds is very simple. I learned how to do this over 20 year ago, when I first started stamping...actually, it might have been 25 years? Yikes...I guess that makes me feel well....

never mind...ha!

First you need to cut a template. I used a piece of computer paper, because it is thin. Make sure it doesn't have too much dimension, because it will leave more of a gap between the areas where you sponge. I also use a small wedge of a sponge. My sponge is cut into thin slivers, because you only need to use a small piece.

Lay your cloud over the paper and start at the top. Sponge from the paper, off to the cardstock, moving in a sweeping motion. You can also swirl the edges to give it a smoother effect.

Move the template down and keep on sponging.

I angled my clouds to the left and then to the right, to give it a billowy effect! Make sure your clouds look different. They always look different in nature, so moving your template so the same pouf isn't in the same place.

Keep going and making your clouds until you are at least 2/3's the way down.

The sky line should never stop 1/2 way. Keep going down til you're at least almost at the bottom....but enough to give you ground area.

I made a mask of another sheet, and it curves, like a scallop but with some variations.

Sponging downward, away from the sky. I started with Kiwi Kiss, and then also sponged some Old Olive and Always Artichoke

Move your mask down and continue sponging.

Now, there might be some blank spots where the Horizon line and the grass/hilly areas start. Sponge some of the Baja Breeze across the Horizon line so that there isn't a white space.
Add Old Olive across the ground area to fill in the white spaces there too.

Stamp your tree, or focal image, and decorate as you like...

Sponge in Cameo Coral and YoYo Yellow or any colors you like, (pink and yellows look great with blues)
and you're done!

Papercrafts Magazine & the New In-colors?

I got an email that had this photo (well, it was sort of this photo) and it had some new in-colors listed...

now, I don't know if this is "fer sure", but....this is the colors that are listed on the magazine. It is a great way to use up scraps, don't ya think?

Pattern papers used....Certainly Celery, Crushed Curry, Dusty Durango, Merry Moments, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Razzleberry Lemonade, So Saffron.....

Well, I think that these are new colors, since I haven't seen them in person..but, we'll just have to guess what colors they really are!

Be sure to look at the NEW Papercrafts Magazine, in your store soon! I got this in my mailbox today, so maybe it is already out in the stores...!

Lazy Days of Summer Birthday Gift

I exchanged an 'semi-retired' set for this one, and after seeing a few cards stamped with this set, I wanted to come up with a few cards of my own..

This was created using the cloud template that I used for the surf card, and then I sponged the grassy area using the template from the Trendy Trees card. The clouds were sponged with Baja Breeze and then I used Summer Sun and Pixie Pink to accent the sky.

The tree branch was stamped in Chocolate Chip, and then I used Summer Sun, Always Artichoke and Old Olive to stamp the dots (leaves). I thought that it would look summer-y. Don't you wish you had a tree like this in your backyard?

My backyard tree (a ficus) is nude right now. I had the tree trimmers butcher it so there are no leaves on it...but, it would be a great tree to have a swing on it.

This card is a tri fold card. I mounted the cardstock with the tree on one of the flaps, and the other flap was punched using the Wide Oval and glued down to create a pocket for the gift card.

The ribbon is attached under the tree card, and then wraps around to the back to tie in the front.

This would be a great Birthday card or Graduation card (without the birthday phrase) or Baby shower with the appropriate sentiment...don't ya think?
Have a great weekend! GET some stamping done!

Surfin Birthday 3D

Living by the beach is a dream for most of us..and although I live in California, and in Long Beach, it isn't as close to the beach as I would LOVE to live!

But, we're only minutes away, so I guess that will just have to be a dream, but ...we are close as we're gonna get!

Since my daughter surfs, I decided that I HAD to get this set.

Stamped the surfboard using So Saffron and then sponged the sides with Baja Breeze. I stamped the waves a few times on whisper white cardstock and then sponged and cut out. The clouds were formed by using computer paper cut in scallops, and then sponged with Baja Breeze on the Baja Breeze Cardstock. The waves were mounted using dimensionals.

3D...not complicated. Very easy, and quick for one of the teen/tween birthdays...

Surf's up............!!! ......................catch the wave!

What are you doing this weekend for the Holiday?? Maybe try some surfin...if not the computer kind of surfin, then ...stamp a surf card! Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Stampin' Up and YOU TUBE!

Stampin' Up! is now on YOU Tube!

You can now access videos done by Stampin' Up! There are videos to show you how to assemble or use different products from the Catalog & Idea book!

Make the time to look at YOU Tube and enter into the new way to share! You know, I know I date myself, but this technology is so amazing. My daughter just thinks I am a goober, but when I talk to my mom now, via electronic mail, both of us see the value of this technology. I remember as a kid going to put a letter in the mailbox and I didn't know that I needed a stamp. The mailman kindly put a .05 stamp on the letter and I gave him a nickle from my bank. (they don't do this any more huh!!!)

Don't forget about my FREE 2009-2010 Catalog & Idea book if you place an order on my website!

Graduation Card

Graduation is coming!

I made this invitation for a graduation party for my daughter when she was graduating from Middle School (it was a K-8 church school) and we did it for the whole class (and parents) as a reflection of their years at their school.

The main thing wasn't the card and tassel on the front, it was the pop up, which had the invitation

I had to use a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper

To make the pop up, you will need your STANDARD A2 card (4 1/4" x 5 1/2")
Take the paper with the PRINTED invitation facing up. This sheet is blank so there isn't any printing, but you can get the idea

FOLD in 1/2 so that the paper now measures 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Fold in 1/2 the other way only by creasing paper (by the fold)

Fold in the crease edge to the center,

Fold the bottom part in to the center. Open up your folded paper.

This is what it will look like. OPEN up your folded triangles. You will then have to refold the triangles by pushing them to the inside.

The lines mark where the SNAIL adhesive must be placed.

This was originally on my blog in 2006 when my daughter graduated from Middle school.
Soon...we'll be celebrating her graduation from High School! YIKES!

Cup Cake Box

Still working on box themes, just in another format! I was going to post this for Sunday, but decided against it and just post it for today!

This was inspired by Chiaki Haverstick who demo'd these at our upline meeting.

The concept of this isn't new, but she put a new twist on this box! I have a cupcake class coming up next weekend, so I thought I would make one of these for my hostess for her..and then demo this since to have everyone make it would be too time consuming.

What you need is:

(1 1/2) pc of cardstock 8 1/2 x 11- cut into quarters 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
(1) piece of acetate - cut 4 3/4" x 4 3/4" (you can cut a larger piece if you need the box to be higher to accomodate a bigger (taller) cupcake)
(4) pieces of decorative paper cut 2" x 3"
22" ribbon
Sticky Tape
Scotch tape - CLEAR
scrap pieces for flowers
Big Shot
Scallop Envelope die
Daisy sizzlet
Swirl Scribble sizzlet

Cut your scallop envelopes. You will need 4 pieces. BE SURE TO USE CREASE rubber mat to cut, otherwise your pieces will perforate through the fold areas.
Assemble the box by putting sticky tape on the side flaps and be sure to use it for the base of the box. I also added a small piece of cardstock (cut 3 1/8" x 3 1/8" to cover the bottom of the box)

Cut 1 piece of your cardstock to 4 3/4" x 4 3/4" (this is the 1/2 piece of cardstock)
Score at 3 7/8" all the way around the cardstock
Using your Circle scissors, center the circle in the piece and cut a circle that will match with your cupcake, approx 2 1/4" - 2 1/2". The hole helps stabilize the cupcake so it won't bump the sides.

Acetate cover
Score at 4" all 4 sides. Cut in at corners to make flap and then tape with CLEAR Scotch tape. IF YOU Need a taller box, be sure to cut your piece larger and then adjust the sides. The center of the top should be approx 3 1/8" square and then make the acetate go inside the box instead of outside like I have it shown here.

DECORATE your box as shown or as you LIKE IT!

Be sure to use sticky tape to tape the flaps of the envelops over the sides. I did it so that the cut side showed over the decorative papers

Isn't this as cute as a cupcake?
