On Camera with SUZE Weinberg

I went to CHA in January, and I was fortunate(?) enough to be in a video with SUZE Weinberg, for RANGER Inks! If you would like to see what we did at RANGER, click on the link! It was really cool using the UTEE.

http://www.rangerink.com/videos/videos_suzemitigoddesspin.htm

This was fun, but don't mind me, You would think I had never done anything like this -- actually being on camera is NOT MY THING!

Death and Taxes

In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.
Benjamin Franklin

I stumbled on this website that had a quotes from Ben Franklin. That Ben Franklin must have been some character. I guess that's why he was so attractive to the ladies in his days....... He had a lot of really funny quotes, that really made things complicated seem so simple. I guess he said it all in a nutshell. I wonder where that quote came from? Well, I googled "death and taxes" because I couldn't remember who said that. I originally thought it was Thomas Jefferson, well, I was sort of close. If you want to see more quotes from Ben, click on the title of this blog entry, and I think you will be linked to it. I am sure you'll get a chuckle out of some of the quotes. I will have a few linked to future blog entries. I really liked them!~ (I have a pop up class coming in the works! So stay tuned! I got a new book that featured pop ups, and for those of you who know me, know that I collect pop up books and LOVE THEM!)

Well, this year, I will be 50.

OMG! My fingers just stopped typing. I guess the realization of writing that I am going into another decade just hit me and I stopped breathing...but, I am breathing now. whew! My friend told me that we should do something fun together since this is our big year, but then she reminded me that I am older than she is...well! Sandy...I found another friend who is also turning 50, and she's 2 days older than me! lol. We were laughing because we said that we should "DO" something fun. So...since she's older than me, I will let her decided on what to do..and we'll plan something..
Convention is going to be that week after my birthday, I know I will hopefully be attending that, (hopefully), but we'll see how this year goes. So far, it isn't looking great.

My card share for today is....using the Trio of Flowers and the Just Buzzin' By set

First, punch out 3 flowers using Pink Pirouette

Using your burnisher or Empressor, push the center of the flower down in the foam or use your palm of your hand. This creates a little cradle for the beads. The foam can also be used for Faux Stitching!

Using Crystal effects, place a small dot in the center and place your beads (quickly)

Add to your card! I colored in the card using Prisma Pencils. This is not good for a Stamp a Stack class since the coloring takes a while to do, but I think for a 'bee' card, it was an added touch to the card. I used the small leaf die in old olive.
Stamp: Just Buzzin By
Cardstock: Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Old olive
dies: leaf stem
punch: trio flowers
Prisma pencils, Basic Black ink, Crystal effects, beads

You can also click here to see the quotes by good ol' Ben....

Benjamin Franklin

CONTEST: Tell me your favorite Ben quote in the comments of this entry. You will win a Foam pad. Drawing will be done on March 1st. Entry must have email address or some way to contact you back to get your address. Limit 5 pads to be given out

Petal Pizzaz

One of the things that I really wanted to do was to use each of the stamps that I pre-purchased, and also that I buy in the catalog several times. I think I really liked this in the photos, but when I actually got this stamp set, I had no clue what I wanted to do with this.

There are so many flower stamps, and why would I want ANOTHER flower stamp set? But, this is really cool. It is easy to cut out and it can be a focal point to itself, and how EASY is that???

I did mask it and then stamp the leaves in Old Olive...and the ribbon pulls out more color in Old Olive as well. I also used Not Quite Navy to stamp the words of thanks.....the designer paper is from the Urban Garden set. You don't notice it too much in the collection, but I think it adds a simple accent to this card, without overpowering it like some of the other papers do..!!!

Another day back to work....

This is another card for my Stamp a Stack...I decided to post this early again, but I love this paper! This is one from the Bella Birds Collection, and one of Shelli's exclusive line of products. It is very soft and subtle and you feel very warm and romantic and sweet. It coordinates with So Saffron, which isn't a color that I use too much, so it is stretching my color span....
I am more drawn to the pinks than to the yellows, but I like the softness of this card.

I also used the faux stitching around the stamped fleur from the Friends 24-7, which I think matches the paper just perfectly. It is seen in several of the papers in this collection, so be sure that you get the stamp and the paper together!

Straying away.....only a little....

I have strayed. I went to the Scrapbook Expo in Orange County and strayed. Well, sort of. My friend Karen and I wanted to do the make and take project at Quick Quotes because it was way cool! It was using the canvas boards, and covering them with decorative papers, and embellishments and photos. We waited but both of us were tired and hungry, so we got too tired to wait. We decided just to buy the canvas and do it ourselves. Of course, I had to buy a couple of their quotes on vellum...but the PAPER is Stampin' Up! It is from the Parisian Breeze Specialty pack and OOH, I love this paper! I had the perfect photos to add to this and I also went to Michael's to get another smaller canvas board to mount the photo of my daughter. (the photo shows it being clipped together to hold it after gluing.)

The photos were altered in Adobe, to be black and white, and I added Creamy Caramel craft to the edges of all the papers, and to the canvas. I also used some of the pastel chalk pads that I had (that we used to sell) to add a little more dimension to the edges. I tied the Baja Breeze striped ribbon around the front, and glued it to the front and to the back side. I used this paper glue because I thought it would work faster (I hate to watch glue dry...!!) and even though I could've used the Tombow Multi Adhesive, I didn't want it to curl which the Tombow sometimes causes it to curl a little.

I still need to add more elements to this, but I love how it is coming out so far...and even though the phrase in the center is from Quick Quotes, I hope you know that you can achieve something like this by using fonts from your computer. There is a new product brewing that is coming from Stampin' Up! and I can't wait for it to come...I think that it will definitely help doing projects like this one!

Wouldn't this make a cool Mother's Day Gift??? or for a Grandmother???

PS: To add a little stress to my life, We found out that my daughter's injury is more serious than we originally thought. Isn't that always the case??? I should've known that we wouldn't get away from it that easy..oh no. God always challenges our lives, and I should've known that He would keep on Challenging us. She tore her ACL, which means that her basketball playing in High School is over. I know she's a junior but her senior season will be less than a year away now, and unless we have total healing quicker than normal, we're looking at recovery later in 2010. So, she wouldn't have played in college, but, it is not a great way to end her high school days.....sitting on the bench and keeping score for the team. She'll be a team player, she have a badge of 'honor' on her knee......Keep us in your prayers!

A little birdie.....

Erika Martin aka StampinMama had a great blog entry in her blog that had these little birdies. I loved them!! I am not a bird person, only because I think most birds don't really like me because I don't know how to behave around birds....there was only 1 bird that I really liked and it was an African Grey at a pet store on Wilshire in Santa Monica that would follow me around the store in his cage. He was a lovely bird. (but he was a baby and at 1500.00 and that was without a cage, I couldn't buy him! plus he would probably out live me!)

Birdie Article in FAMILY FUN Magazine
Birdie Templates

...The news update on my daughter. We went to the Orthopedic Doctor, and we found out that she has a torn ACL. What terrible news for an athlete. Basically, what that means is that her high school sports is over. She is a junior this year, and with the recovery being about a year after the surgery, she's going to be out for the whole senior basketball season (basketball season is over now) and for the rest of this year. We still have to have an MRI to confirm this, but the doctor was pretty confident in his diagnosis...and so I am not that optimistic that he's wrong....

Crazy For Cupcakes Class

Crazy for Cupcakes! I don't really like cupcakes except to lick the frosting...well, sometimes. It just adds inches to my waist and hips, and.....BUT stamping cupcakes, hey, that BURNS CALORIES, right? Someone told me that Rubber stamping burns 400 calories. (for how long? I don't know, but hey...I am not a trainer or nutrionist or...?..just making a point.. albeit in fun!!)

I am having a class called CRAZY for CUPCAKES..and we're making 5 cards, and a tote to carry them in. This is not any planner or anything I've purchased, it is just a compilation of cards and ideas that I have put together. The photo is a teaser of one of the cards, and I got the idea from our Stampin' Up Stampin' Success monthly magazine. I get them each month from Stampin' Up! and they're always packed with new ideas, new products and fun things to creatively keep your business going!

Of course, I will have the cards posted later on, but stayed tuned..because I am really excited about this class...crazy..right?

The class is March 7th from 12 to 2 -for more details, email me at deekwlt@aol.com

This weekend, I will be at the Scrapbook expo at the Orange County Fairgrounds. I hope to come back with some fun ideas to share!

Friends 24-7

Sorry it has been a couple of days since I last posted....It has been another busy week, and I didn't get to take this photo over again. It isn't the best one, but all I can say is 'sorry'. I really love this stamp set, and I haven't purchased a lot from the new catalog, not because I don't love more sets, but because I want to try to work with one idea within the catalog to inspire you to see what you can do with 1 set (and a couple of others..lol) with the NEW Papers, and accessories. So, most of what I have used is accessories. I told you the last time, I really like the texturz. I think that it adds so much more to the cards. In this one, I used just a small strip of creamy caramel with the harlequin diamond texturz plate.

I wheeled out a small piece of cardstock with the Friendly Words Jumbo Wheel on Not Quite Navy Cardstock, stamped the bird twice, once in Chocolate Chip and then one time in Baja Breeze, and cut out the bird stamped in Baja Breeze. Using dimensionals, I layered it on top of the chocolate image.

I hope you enjoy this card ...it does look better in person, but with the week I have had so far, this was the best I could do with my photography. My daughter injured her knee tonight in the last basketball game of their season, so I spent 3 hours in the ER, and my car is in the shop,...got a teacher at my daughter's school mad at me....lol...And..it is only Wednesday! I can't wait for Thursday and Friday!
Lord, help me to be strong!

LIFE!
Well, I will get myself back to stamping soon!

~dianne
ps. My daughter is fine. She hyperextended her knee, and so she's got a brace on it, and has to keep her leg immobilized for a week or so. AT least she didn't tear anything..or..so we hope!!!

Friends 24-7

I am loving these texturz plates. I think that at first, I was disappointed in the quality of the texture, but as we've been talking together as demos, we decided that it is just that, texture. It isn't like the folders that are carried by other companies (you know the ones, with the cute bug creatures - wink!)

This card was stamped in black and watercolored, using the aqua painter.

Stamps: Friends 24-7
Cardstock: Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Sahara Sand
Ink: Black, Baja Breeze, Pacific Point, Always Artichoke, versamark
Texture

FRIENDS

My friend Karen comes to my classes. I have been friends with Karen for about 18-19 years now....She was with us when we got our dog, so of course, she's Auntie Karen. I rarely get photos of people who come to my class because I don't think of it in time. But, today, I thought I would get a photo of Karen and Suki, our dog. So, as I was taking the photo of Suki licking Karen's face, Suki stopped to look at the camera... this is my friend Karen, and and Suki. I know she'll get a big kick out of this picture! At least we know who is NOT camera shy!

I figure that since I didn't ask Karen if she would like to be in my blog, I put her in anyways....................Hi Karen!

Love is in the Air..!

I love this Scallop Oval die! It can be so many things! You can easily use it for scrapbooking and use it for a frame for a photo, decorate some cute card, and even use it for your album cover....

I wanted to try something different by making a cute sign for a room, or "Baby" by covering the chipboard with our cardstock and our decorative paper. This is chocolate dotted paper from the Bella Rose package. I cut the frames, and then cut the ovals from the cardstock (Baja Breeze). Then I stamped the Baja Breeze with Versamark and the stamp from the Friends 24-7 set.

OOH, I love the new DIE cut Alphabets! They are so easy to mount now. I used to dread cutting the letters, but now, it is a SNAP!

The letters are stamped on Vanilla cardstock, in chocolate chip, and punched out using the 1" circle punch. Then layered on 1 1/4" kraft cardstock and then used dimensionals for the letters. The ribbon is tied through holes that also uses the jumbo eyelets, and Kraft Taffeta Ribbon.

Stamps: Friends 24-7, Lovely Letters
Ink: Versamark, Chocolate Chip Classic ink
Paper: Baja Breeze Cardstock, Bella Rose DSP (chocolate chip swiss dotted)
Accessories: Kraft taffeta ribbon, Jumbo eyelet (antique brass), Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive, Scallop Oval Sizzix Die

This is my surprise project for today! I decided I needed a surprise project for the class today, and so I was busy working on something that would be different and FUN! Hope you like my surprise project! I will post the cards that we did today for tomorrow's blog posting! So, you'll just have to wait to see what we did!

Helping Out to those in Need

One of the most priviledged charities that Stampin' Up! has chosen to sponsor and donate $100,000 each year is the Ronald McDonald House Charities. It is such an honor to be a part of the Ronald McDonald House, and did you know that Stampin' Up! Demonstrators provide cards, projects and help in the kitchen from time to time for those families that are staying in the RMHC? Sign up to be a demonstrator, save 15% off your starter kit, and join up with Stampin' Up! demonstators, and spread your creative flair to those families in need!

ONE way that YOU can help out, is to purchase this set. $2.00 from each set sold goes directly to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, along with $100,000 from Stampin' Up! directly. In total, Stampin' Up! has donated over $2,000,000 to the RMHC!

Be a part of something Bigger...

On a personal note, California is supposed to get lots of rain! We're in a drought, so I hope it is enough to carry us through the summer!

Punch Tool

THIS...is a tool you can make yourself! I used Trading Card pockets which you can buy at any Comic Book Store...you can get them for less than 3-4.00 per 25 pockets. They come in various sizes, so you can choose which size you want. What I did was use some 'old' cardstock, and punch each of the punches on a card. I did double up on some of them because they were small.

I used the Crop a Dile to punch a hole and then got some of the beaded key chains from my local craft store (Michaels) and threaded it through the holes to put them together.

To use this tool, you take the image you have, and then line it up to the punched shape. If you don't have the right one, it won't fit!

You can see that the larger one lines up perfectly. You can also use this to see if you like a partial image in the shape too!

Go to your local Comic Book Store, and Ask for Trading Card Toploader Protectors.
I found the idea on someone else's blog and started mine last year....! So my collection is growing!

This card uses the Hostess set and the Large Heart Punch
Stamp: A Little Something, Holidays & Wishes
Paper: Raspberry Tart, Regal Rose, Whisper White
Accessories: Heart Punch, Lace Border, Grosgrain Ribbon

Have a Great Weekend!

Scallop Oval Frame Die Cut

Cupcakes are all the rage..!
You see them everywhere...I think because they bring back times of mom baking cupcakes and sprinkling them with sugary candies, and the sweet frosting on top. I love the frosting. I was always a "Frosting" girl. Forget the cake, yummmmmmm frosting!

This card uses the Scallop oval die. First cut 2 from Chocolate Chip and also Whisper White cardstock. Then take the white oval and the chocolate frame, and stamp the cupcake on the whisper white. I used Chalk to color in and glitter on the flame on the candle!

Sponge the side of the oval and mount on the card, over the Sweet always Designer papers. I mounted dimensionals on the frame (about 5 of them) to pop out the frame. Tied Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon on the side of the frame, and popped it on the card!

Pretty in Cupcakes!
Cardstock: Pink Pirouette, Sweet Always, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White

Ode to the Coluzzle

Ode to the Coluzzle and the evolution of the Circle Cutter...

I really love my coluzzle. I think that it was a great tool. I have had lots of circle cutters before. I remember the tall thing plastic thingy that had a blade that went around it...and it was sharp! And we had to cut it on GLASS! But, eeww, it was bulky and hard to transport to workshops! Then Fiskars came out with a circle cutter. It was cool, and I liked it too. They also had an oval cutter too. That wasn't as nice as the circle cutter, but it worked 'ok'.

Then Fiskars or EK Success came out with a circle scissors..and Stampin' Up carried it for awhile but most of my customers had a difficult time with it. It was ok, and I could use it, but then...it was discontinued!

So, we went to the Coluzzle...now, I guess, it has been discontinued by Provo Crafts. I have several of the circle, oval, envelope, etc shapes which I do love...but, now I have to get rid of these...sigh....and eventually, I will break down and get the NEW Circle Scissors...so bear with me..while I mourn yet another circle cutter! I will get the new one..soon I hope!

Good bye to another Circle cutter...the Coluzzle....Sayonara! Adios!
It was great to know you!

Simply Stated Card

Monotone and Simply stated. I like simple cards, that have an understated, easy look.
This is Old Olive, and also uses Kiwi Kiss Designer paper. I punched the trio flowers and then added brass brads. That livens up the flowers.
The flowers were stamped in Versamark

Did you watch Heroes and Medium last night? So glad they're back on! I wish the networks would just let them stay on...that's why programs get canceled. People forget that they are on...miss Pushing Daisies....but they already canceled that one.

Stamp a Stack Card from Superbowl Sunday!

One of the Cards from my Superbowl Stamp a Stack...to see the rest, be sure to stay tuned!
Cardstock: Not quite navy, Baja Breeze designer paper, Whisper White
Stamps: Lovely as a tree

This might look intimidating, but it was very easy! Even for a beginner stamper, this is attainable, and once you see how to do masking, you will want to 'color' in this way everytime! (well, at least try it to see if you like it!)

Well, I was rootin' for the Arizona Cardinals..I think because they are a 'new' team, and haven't been to the Superbowl in awhile..and they almost pulled it out!
Who was your favorite team, and WHAT was your favorite commercial??
