Using My Digital Studio on my phone!

In January, I lost my cell phone...not your ordinary cell phone, my iPhone..now, since I have it locked (i know that isn't fool proof) it at least protected non geeks from taking the phone and keeping it for themselves. I lost it at CHA, so I think overall, most people who are there, at least have respect for property. I promptly reported it to the convention center and also to the CHA reps (THANK YOU CHA!) ...they assured me that in July 09, that 6 iPhones were lost and turned in and people were able to recover their phones. I was assured that it would show up....

I also have the tracking feature so that if it is lost, it can be tracked to a location too, but that doesn't help when you know where it is, but no one has contacted you...because they don't know who to contact!

Well, as things go, I got a call on the last day, and my phone was turned in! I put labels on my phone so that if in case this happens again, then at least my phone would have some identity.

On Tuesday, I got the new iPHONE 4.0, and so to protect my phone, I also put in password protection. The problem is that once you put in the password, there is no way to identify who the phone belongs to, I didn't want to stick labels on my new phone so I knew I needed something else so I used MDS to create a 'home' page with some information to call another number (and my email) so that I can be contacted to reconnect with my phone...

Now, I really hope this doesn't happen again, but if it does, at least there is some way I can be contacted!!!

Baby GIRL are sweet too!

I had to do a pink card! I had to make it sweet and pink and cute...just like the boy card!
I used the scallop border that was available during Sale A bration, and love how cute it trims off the swiss dotted texture cardstock. The tees were cut and I added wire hangers which was from a big box craft store.
Pink pirouette, and so saffron with a touch of Rose Red, sweet and cute!

Baby Tees for Boys!

I had FUN! As my class was making their cards, I started playing with the Jumbo Roller...BABY TEES!
Isn't it the cutest! I don't have any babies, and hopefully none in my family soon, but I have friends whose kids are having kids now...

So, I rolled the wheel, and colored in a few. I think maybe if you're not sure what colors to use, go to a BABY store and look at the colors they use!
This is using Baja Breeze, Old Olive and River Rock

I just think they are so cute!! What do you think?

Itty Bitty Bits on a Itty Bitty Card!

I have been busy making samples for my next class this weekend, my stamp a stack! But I have also been busy working my other job. I think I told you a few weeks (months?) ago, that I had some terrible decisions to make but now that it is all over, I can finally tell you that I am staying in my house! But the consequences of that is that I need to work! Not that this isn't working but, I have to keep my job as a dental hygienist going so I can keep my house. Yes, my Stampin' Up does help with making my house payments but it isn't making enough yet! It feels good to get back into my stamping! I have so much joy and relaxation from creating!

This card is inspired by Kimberly Van Diepen.
She has such a fresh style...and did I mention FUN! It seems that I am not the only one who has been going through changes. She's had to pack up her house and move across from Colorado Springs to DC!

Now, I changed a few things, and added stamps instead of brads but I really needed to use this set, "ITTY BITTY BITS" It fits the teeny trio of punches that are available in the Mini catalog and also in the NEW catalog! This stamp set is only 8.95 in the clear mount, and 11.95 in the wood mount!

The bowl of CHERRIES are from the Hostess level 1, It's the Thought from the Mini Catalog as well!

Crushed Curry and Sahara Sand look much better together than I had originally imagined, and the Real Red really gives it a **PUNCH** (ok, forgive the pun!)

Fifth Avenue Floral

Sponging is a simple way to fill in or color any stamped image. Most of the time when you sponge, you should have a large area to fill in. Of course, you can't fill in a figure that has a lot of detail but for flowers, sponging gives you a lot of color that nature can inspire!

I used up some of the retiring paper Pink Flamingo...love it and will miss it but I am looking forward to the new Designer papers coming up in the NEW Catalog & Idea Book!

Stamp the flower 3 times on whisper white with Classic Black ink. (Water resistant) Cut out flowers

Get out your ink pads (Real Red and So Saffron) and finger sponges

Dab the So Saffron in the center

Dab the Real Red ink around lightly on the petals.

Start sponging darker around the edges, and then blend towards the center.

Voila! You will have all 3 flowers done!

Teddy Bear Tea!

The Teddy Bear Tea was a huge success! We had over 25 kids that came with their parents, and their toys or bears...in this case, one of our pastors kids, who is very shy at times....brought BUZZ LIGHTYEAR! So, Keagan showed off Buzz instead of his own face. Most of the kids had no problem at all sticking their faces through the hole and smiling!

The funniest part, was that after the kids put their heads through, you can't tell if they are a boy or girl! (well sort of) I had a heck of a time figuring out which kid was who!

But everyone loved their build a bear frame and the photo!

Addicted to BIG SHOT

Addiction: noun the quality or state of being addicted.
compulsive need for and use of habit forming substance
characterized by tolerance and by well defined physiological symptoms upon withdrawal; persistent compulsive use of substance known by the user to be harmful.

Well! Is that a mouthful! I guess if you get your finger stuck in the Big Shot, you can get injured! But I am having fun using the Big Shot to cut letters and vines to create more than cards!

Each year, our church has a Teddy Bear Tea for the 4 year olds and it is always well attended. This year, we're taking photos of each child and so we decided to make a window frame for the picture. They will put their face through the hole and take a photo which will be added to their frame. (decorated with build a bear - shown on a previous post)

I cut out all the letters in Basic Black and cut the vine out of Gable Green (discontinued 2010) and then punched the flowers and the centers from Yo yo yellow, summer sun and Positively Pink.

Nice to use up some of the discontinuing colors!

Of course, we need the year so we can remember what we did. I adhered the letters on very lightly with snail adhesive so they can be removed with Goo gone or some other product.
I will post some photos tomorrow of what we did with this project!

Papercrafting leis for Graduation or special event!

My daughter is now a high school graduate! I know I haven't been posting and hopefully now, I can get back into my regular routine and start STAMPING!!!
My daughter got lots of leis....ok not as many as some of her friends, but they involved a lot of different styles!
One of the lei's I make is the one with the spiraling ribbons. (I have shown you those before) I also do one with braided ribbons (another one that I have show you before.)
My daughter got one from her friend, Kellyn which was cellophane and quarters! We loved it! (it is very heavy)
Kellyn's mom made this beautiful lei with quarters, cellophane and ribbon!
I am not quite sure how she tied them all together, but I will be studying this one!

The quarters are all wrapped in cellophane and then tied tightly with ribbon. They are then attached together with ribbon.

This is one I made for Tori. I added folded paper money to her lei. I fan folded the money and then attached them in the middle with the teeny clear rubber hair rubber bands. (you can find those at W-mart or $1 store) You pleat the bill and then wrap the rubber band in the center. Add another rubber band, and then attached the folded edges together. You can then take the looser rubber band and attach it to the lei. (very simple)
It won't fall off, and will be very secure! Plus easy to remove! The dollar amount can be any amount you designate...$1, $5, $10 or $20...etc. I used $5 bills, so I didn't have to do that many but I saw a few kids who had $1 ones all over the whole lei. It might have been about 25.00! What a nice creative way to give a gift.
I know this isn't stamping but it is papercrafting in a different way! I hope you enjoy this blog entry today! I haven't had much of a chance for stamping lately, so this is the best I can share with you today!!!

Graduation Day is coming!

Graduation Day is coming, and I thought I would post a card (simple) using a Graduation set! I love this set, it is so cute just to see the feet...."Go Graduate!" available in clear or wood in the Summer Mini Catalog.

Teamed with Teeny Tiny messages, which has all the holidays covered! I love how small these little greetings are, and they will fit on any card you make!

The Cap is die cut from a sizzlet die that I bought on sale (I think it was discontinued, and I bought it for less than 2.00 or something like that. It even has a die for the tassel!)

I received this award from someone (it was in spanish, so I can't translate it) but I am honored! THANK YOU! Muchas Gracias! (tee hee which is almost the only spanish I know except for checking my patient's teeth....ie: abire la boca, cierra la boca..etc)

Summer is coming!

Sorry for not posting - And I was doing so well! (not really) but this is my last week as a mom of a high schooler! My daughter is graduating, and now that she has a license and a car, she's off and running!

I think it is great that she's able to go out on her own..it will certainly help her transition to college! But, I know I am going to miss it. It is just the 2 of us, and after she goes away to college, it will be just ME! ooh, I hope that I will be able to keep busy! (I KNOW I WILL!)

I have been stamping, and planning a class which will consist of 5 cards plus envelopes and a box to carry all of it. I am anxiously watching the Lakers and Boston playing, and it isn't good for either team. (Game 4 in Boston). I was hoping Kobe and the Lakers would be able to keep it going but alas...they lost!
Just a couple of little hints of what is coming up!
I will be scheduling this closer towards the end of July....around Convention time! I hope that I can plan something for each day...and a contest too! I will give you a challenge..and YOU might win a some new merchandise! Wouldn't that be cool?

Build a Bear FUN!

Build a Bear....I borrowed Joyce's dies, to make these bears....I am planning a kid's craft for my church. Every year, our church does a tea for 4 year olds. It is called "Teddy Bear Tea" It is the ministry of my friend, Ernestine...She has great ideas, but from time to time she wants different crafts to have for the kids, so it makes the parents want to bring their kids!

This year, we're doing a photo craft, and so we decided to decorate it with the BAB. It needs to be simple so that the kids can decorate the bears with their moms, and not get too frustrated.

I placed a dot of black and rose red cardstock behind the bear face which might be hard for the kids but the moms should have fun doing the faces. I didn't want to leave the bear face blank!

Theater Window Card

I bought a card in England (Wales) many years ago, with the idea that maybe I would try to reproduce it......(we went in 2002) So, now 8 years later, I finally get around to doing it! I carefully looked through the card, and did my measurements, and Voila! here it is!
I used OLD OLIVE cardstock, and Island Oasis Designer paper, and Tropical Party Stamp set to create my version of this card!

Stamping the palm over the front, and using the circle scissor to cut my opening, I then stamped the inside flap using the flower stamp. I used 12x12 cardstock which you only need 1 sheet to make this card, and (You will have left over amount to use for another card!)
When you open the sides, it reveals a photo or saying or (gift card) for a special surprise!
The construction of this card is very simple and will be one of my next pop up card classes! I need to make another sample just in case this isn't in your tastes, so that you have an idea of how EASY it is to make, it is only 3 pieces of cardstock!!! (really!)

It is warming up and here in CA, they say it might reach triple digits! So, get out your daquiries and mai tais......and sit in your oasis by the pool! or...go to Hawai'i for some well deserved vacation!
