Punched Blossoms

I bet you thought that I wasn't going to post anything..this last day of August and the Labor Day weekend...it is the signal that summer is almost over...I am happy and yet sad....It means that we have to get our lives in order, get our schedules straight, and crack open the books....!!

I love this set...! Did I tell you that I got this at convention? It is one of the things they give us to offset some of the convention costs, and also for the make and takes.

I have seen samples of this, so it is not new, but doing it myself was just so much fun!

This is one of the cards for the Stamp a Stack next Saturday! I needed another card to make things go a little faster, since we're doing 10 cards instead of 12.
This was a simple card, using 3 basic colors, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate chip and Tangerine Tango,....the Hawaii Papaya is my color inspiration.....
I am not a brown person. I am not a green person, or an orange person. This is really out of my scope of comfort, but....can you imagine a world without Green, Brown or Orange??
I have been pondering a new blog entry, which will take me some time to work on...but, I hope that I can share it soon!

I think you might be more convinced that without these colors, life would be dull.....

*********************************************************************

My daughter dancing on the waves......she was whitewater surfin' as she put it...not bad for almost 2 years of no surfin...school and basketball can be rough!!! lol - it sure gets in the way of doing things we love!

and if you think I was on the board..??? ARE you out of your mind??? No way!
I was happily sitting on the sand with my book and my camera..and my beach chair and diet Pepsi!
but I did get sand on my toes!!! lol
***********************
Not to worry, more of these photos will be in a scrapbook page coming soon!!!!!
**********************
Happy Sunday!!..off to church soon, and a return to the beach...maybe today....hey ..what is life if you can't take your book, your camera and your daughter and her board to the beach??? It's only 20 minutes away! ....it beats Disneyland which is 20 minutes in a different direction!!!
hey, if you haven't read any of the Twilight books...I love them..I started reading them on Friday, and then finished it, and read the second one yesterday (saturday) and then started reading the third one later that night..and today, I am almost 1/2 way through.....) It is perfect reading at the beach!!!!!

Just Jawin'

This was NOT my first choice for a stamp set, but....I was looking at the catalog and put it down, and then was doing something on the other side of the table, and I saw something different ......

So, I bought it...

I decided to stamp and make a card that you would probably expect to see with this card....

It's cute, and It ROCKS...and I saw pink glitter in the 'eyes' and I used Crystal Effects where the teeth are, to give them shine!

It needed brads, so I layered it on a card with the corners cut in, and then added brads...

Well, You can see why I saw something else....!!!!!!!!!!!
It is RUDOLPH Just Jawin! in a hat!
I cut off the 'bones' and left the two, so they look like antlers, and the nose is a punched out circle of Real Red. (1/2 circle punch)
actually, I saw a snowman...so that's next!
What can you come up with?

Summer Picnic CD Album

Summer Picnic. This is one of the DSP that made it from last season's catalog (mini catalog) to the current catalog!
It has bright summery flowers, cherries, and stripes, that make you feel happy and cheerful!
This project was cased from http://www.pattystamps.com/ and also from http://www.crafttvweekly.com/

Using chipboard scallop from the previous chipboard blossoms, I covered it with the DSP and then layered more Green Stripe paper from the same collection. The flower is a Sizzix die cut flower and leaves, along with the swirl die cut.

Each page in this book is covered with the Summer Picnic papers, because I wanted to "jazz" it up more...but, it doesn't really need this much 'busy-ness'. It probably is way too busy.

The tags were inserted and topped with the circle and scallop circle punch.
You can put a small photo in each of the circles or maybe a stamped image.

This is the book embellished with the swirl die ...I thought it needed a little more flair!

Closed and ready to fill with your special photos!

This class is scheduled for Saturday, September 20th from 12 to 2:30
RSVP at least 4 days prior to date
Have a great Labor Day Weekend! I know that the kids will be going back to school soon!.....Mine goes back as of Wednesday...!! YIPPEE!..it has been a great summer, but I love being on a regular schedule!!!

More Card Elements

Look!...I told you that this wasn't my comfort area of color combinations! But, using what I had, and only adding a different color ribbon, and (glitter to one of them)...I think they're good to send out to someone ....
I think for NON stampers, or newbies to stamping, this is a great introduction to have something to make, feel creative, and then, they can go from there!
It makes a good "springboard" for creativity!
Can you tell, I miss the Olympics! I don't really want to watch the US Open, and least favorite..POLITICS! UGH!
So, hopefully, even though most people don't read all the blah blah's in blogs, .....maybe you will look at the cards, and think...
"Ok, I can deal with the colors, and maybe I will try it with my Card Element kit..!"
OR
"EH? what is this all about?"
and then skip over to the next blog....

Well, You can tell me what you think...it isn't spectacular....or....maybe it will grow on you....

View Master Card using Sizzix Scallop Die

I love the View Master. When you peek in them and the click the wheel to turn the wheel, and the picture changes,...you feel like you can see something that is touchable. It gives you a 3D effect! Well this can be done 2 dimensionally by using the Scallop die that is from the Fall Winter Mini Catalog....soon to come out in September...
To Make this card:
Scallop Circle Punch
1 1 3/8" circle punch
1 large scallop circle (white cardstock)
You will need 5 1/2" x 12 Cardstock
Score it at 4 1/4", 8 1/2" (you will then have 3 1/2" left)
Fold it at the score lines.
At the 4 1/4" line, you will punch the Word Punch twice. Line it up so that it is even.
Then punch the circle punch in the center panel of the card.
Measure in about 1" in from the last panel edge, and about 2 1/4" down from the top and poke a small hole using a paper piercer. This is the hole for the scallop wheel.
Stamp your images on the wheel. I used a Post it as a mask so that it would't overlap the areas for the next area. This stamp set, (Simply Said) fits perfectly in the windows.

the scallop wheel gets placed through the slot make with the Word Window Punch. You can adhere the back panel to the outside edge near the fold to seal this card up!

Flip it over, and punch the 1 3/8" circle in the Pacific Point cardstock and then punch the Scallop circle punch after lining up the circle hole in the center of the punch.
Add ribbons and other dies, and voila! simple View Master card!

This is one of the cards we made at my Sizzix Class!!!

Flower Power Card Elements Kit

Sometimes you need to stretch....get up and stretch...and see the world through different color glasses. Experiment with colors, or go outside of your comfort zone to try something new. I used to tell my daughter to try new foods, before saying you don't like it....

Color is like that too. You have to try it, to see how you like things before you can say you like it or don't.

WELL...the jury is still out on this one..

LOL....yes, I have to say, I don't really know what to do with this kit. I made 10 cards from this kit. I used up almost all of the cardstock but still have a little of the double sided paper left.

This is a new card kit, reasonably priced at 15.95.

This card, I used the scallop edge on the plum (purple) cardstock

I added purple ribbon to this card

I used the diagram on the cover sheet to make this one

And did a tri-fold card (backwards..but it still works)...

I am going to use this to send out a bunch of thank you's to friends who celebrated my birthday, and also to family members who came to see my dad.....while he was in the hospital....

So, does this card kit grow on you???

.........................................NO?
Well...don't be afraid to stretch yourself anyways...you sometimes might like what you come up with. You might have better results than I did...!!!
I will have more cards posted another time, .....after all, I made 10 cards! YIKES!

Sizzix Samples

This is the alphabet that you can purchase on September 2.
The Essential Serif letters are a really nice size. This is shown on a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of Cardstock (retired, Groovy Guava)
I die cut them out of lightweight chipboard, very easily!

The Pillow box is a perfect size for a small gift (not a gift card) but something like earrings or jewelry...maybe even money...???

the cutest little basket you ever did see! All the components to make this are in the die including the flower! I added the rhinestone brad to embellish this SIMPLE basket!

And if life gives you lemons, .....enjoy every moment eating ...Lemon Drops!

Drawing for a NEW DIE!

Drawing held today and the winner was...
Valerie Mendenhall!!!
She chose this die for her first venture in the NEW STAMPIN' UP and Sizzix Partnership!
After the orders were done....and sorry to say that they were not that high, but that's because I talked 2 of my Great customers and possibly a 3rd one into signing up as a demonstrator....(so, they want to get their first order for 30% off their total!)
Valerie will receive this die as soon as I can place an order for it!

Sizzix Mini Carousel Purse Tutorial

I was at Michaels and this little purse came to my mind after looking at the cute little party Favors by K&Company. They had cute little butterflies on them or flowers or circus animals etc, but I was thinking "Sizzix". What can I do with Sizzix...?

First you take a regular A2 Envelope. Seal it. A2 is the medium size envelopes sold in the Stampin' Up Catalog.

Score 3/4" around 3 sides. Be sure to fold back and forth so that the score lines will fold easily.

Cut off the top portion of the envelope so that it measures approx 2 1/2" from the bottom fold. (the bottom fold is to the left)

Attach the little bottom triangles with Glue Dots

THIS is the LARGE Scallop Circle (the largest one)

Cut off 8 scallops straight across. Be sure to repeat that on both scallop circles

Punch holes using the Crop a dile, and be sure that they are within the envelope box. I laid the envelope "box" down on the die and traced around with a pencil (see below -2 photos down)

Place Jumbo Eyelets in the holes and set, using Crop a Dile. I then used ribbon and sticky tape to attach the ribbon to the inside of the die (Stamp the die before setting eyelets (oops, I forgot to take a photo of that!)

Stamped with the vines from Fresh Cuts

Here you can see my pencil lines, and I put sticky tape inside those pencil lines. The lines help in lining up the envelope "box" to the die cuts.

Attach and embellish with flower and swirl dies!

I added a little teeny glitter to the inside of the flower by placing a glue dot on the top and then fine glitter!

Voila! cute simple and uses lots of dies!

Have fun making your mini purse!!!

~Dianne

Using Sizzix dies with your Stamping!

One of the potentials that I saw that could be done with the SIZZIX dies was making class preparation faster! I love that I can cut multiple cards at the same time and be done almost as quick as you can snap your fingers!
I saw a purse card when I folded the curvy label in half, and so proceeded to come up with a sample. I also used the swirl die to make an embellishment on the Kiwi Kiss card
The flower is from the Pretties kit, which I used Kiwi Kiss to dye, and then topped it with a cabochon pearl in the center and a ribbon (old olive, but it is close to the Kiwi Color) I used the corner rounder on the corners too.
The handle ribbon is attached by punching a hold in the label, and then attaching it flat to the inside of the label, and then adhereing it to the base card.

PS: Update on my dad.....he's home now! He's doing very well and after spending over a week at the hospital, he's recovering quite well. He's still on O2 and just needs to work on his walking and breathing. He still get short of breath, but considering that last Tuesday he was almost dead, he's defying death each day by getting stronger!
