Manhattan Rose - Fifth Avenue Floral

The Stampin' Up! Website has a ton of samples that they feature, as well as a Monthly News Magazine that brings a wealth of inspiration!
I sometimes go back after looking at several stamp sets that they feature (and I don't have, but later decide to buy)
So this one was from a past Stampin' Success Magazine. Well, it was inspired by a card that they featured in it. I changed it a lot, so you might not even recognize it, but I love that this has a lot of elements, but still very simple.
Sometimes, when you're busy, which I tend to be very busy, always trying to get as much out of each day that I can....you need a card to look complicated, but actually very easy to put together.......
Hopefully, you will find this one to be that way.....
hugs!

Finding INKspiration....

You know..sometimes, you need to find inspiration for colors and what colors to use together.
I love color, and looking for color combinations all the time. Most of the time I find things on other blogs, but....this time, I found color inspiration in the CTMH Idea book!
OH NO, the competition??? Well, I think that sometimes, we all need to see what other companies are doing, and what colors others like to use.

This particular page used colors that were similar to our Last IN-color combination, but we don't have them any more.
So, I took the colors as close as I could and used it for inspiration. That's what it was...
The colors in this card are actually Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, Taken with teal (stamped off) and then Tempting Turquoise (cardstock).
I stamped them all on Vanilla Cardstock, and then cut out one of the flowers......layered it with a JUMBO Grommet that is in the NEW MINI OCCASIONS Catalog, coming out on April 1st!

I punched the Grommet through the cardstock and then stamped the center using Taken with Teal of one of the smaller flowers, punched out with the 1/2" circle. I added Crystal Effects to the center.

Just Basketball Album

This is what i have actually been working on as of late..along with other things including ribbon leis for the graduating Varsity seniors of our school's basketball team. I handed them out to the seniors last night at our Basketball Awards Banquet.
I didn't use Stampin' Up! Papers since we really don't have any 'sports' theme papers. The main orange paper is using the Basketball paper from LSS which has the texture and feel of a basketball, and the darker brown paper is basketball themed as well.
The basketball backboard and hoop is a die cut which I used in my accucut machine, and then I tied it with ribbon purchased from Walmart!

The Binding was done by using the Bind it All, and I mounted each of the pages and photos on heavy chipboard, which I bought from a paper supply company (down the street from me)
Most of the girls on the team don't have parents that do this sort of thing so it might be all the photos that they have from high school basketball days...I took photos from all through the high school season this year....

I started this last year, and so this year, the girls are expecting it, although they don't really know if I am doing it since I don't make a big deal of telling them anything. Next year, when my daughter graduates, I know that the girls that come after are going to miss it, but.....I have photos for them which I passed out for them last night at the banquet...

I stamped inside using Just Basketball, but since there are photos of girls that I probably shouldn't put on the internet without their permission, I can't show them to you.....but just know that I had a lot of fun putting them together!

LSS = Local Scrapbook Store, in this case, it was Scrapbook Depot, in Los Alamitos, CA

Getting Punchy again!

I am still here. I have been having problems with my emails and internet. In fact, ALL of my blogs that I have in my favorites, have been lost. And...I can't keep them in my favorites. If I have a virus, it is a weird one...PLUS not to mention, just being busy single mom of a teenager who has stuff going on as well!

So...I thought since I have been so quiet, I thought I would go back and look for some of the most recent cards I have stamped. This was one that I was 'playing' around with. On the Ballet Blue cardstock, I punched the large heart, and then added 1/4" punched circles to the edges to make it look scalloped. I stamped the FOR YOU in the center in Regal Rose on Pink Pirouette. The flowers were punched out using the Trio flower punch, and then I used the eyelet lace punch on white to peek out under the Pink Pirouette DSP from the Bella Rose Pack. I love that pack and will be sad when it retires at the end of this catalog...

One a side note, California Tax increases on April 1 by 1%. So be sure to buy any big ticket items before the end of this month (hint: Starter kit!)...and SALE A BRATION ends as well!!! Get a FREE item from the Sale a Bration catalog with a 50.00 purchase!

Tool Try out

I got the NEW CIRCLE SCISSORS by Stampin' Up!

I was skeptical about buying a new tool, but I really want to make bigger circles than what we had before, and since the Coluzzle is now discontinued, I can't really sell something that isn't available any more....well, I guess I can always sell my 'old' stuff on ebay or such...

This is using a 4" x 11" card, I curved the edges, using the Circle Scissors.

Layered all the other pieces and also cut them at 1/4" smaller circles.

The images are stamped with the Fifth Avenue Floral set, (which was one of the sets I was trying to resist buying, but oooh, I love it!)

The images are stamped in Basic Gray, and then colored in using the Aqua Painters, in Old Olive, Bashful Blue, and Not Quite Navy.

Another Pop Up Ball Card!

I love cherries!
L * O * V * E
Cherries!
Close up of the front of the card. I added brads to the side of the Real Red Cardstock, only because I don't usually add accessories, and I think this needed some "hardware" on the front! I colored in the Cherries from the JUST JAWIN' set, using markers AFTER stamping the Happy Birthday from the HAPPY EVERYTHING set. I used the Stamp a majig to line up the words so that they would take the least amount of space, leaving enough room for the cherries!

The card pops up, and the stem which is added to the top and the base is hidden under a 1/2 hexagon. It is just folded over, but for some reason, when the cherry pops up, the stem does too! (it was an added effect that I think was just made for this!!!)

And then I added the YOU ROCK! with a pointer, so it looks like it is pointing to the recipient of the card!

purty cool, eh!?

This is one of our pop up cards for the Class this coming Saturday!

Big Shot Crease XL Pad coming soon!

Sizzix Big Shot Extended Premium Crease Pad - A Solution…

Question:
When is Stampin’ Up! is going to get the Big Shot Extended Premium Crease Pad?…

and it is coming soon… but not quite yet… so I’ll keep you posted… in the meanwhile… here’s a solution… and this comes from Stampin’ Up! themselves:

Coming this spring, we are excited to announce the introduction of a wonderful new product into our Sizzix line - the Extended Premium Crease Pad! The extended pad is just as easy to use as our current Premium Crease Pad and will create the same great fold lines in your Sizzix Big Shot projects, but it is specially sized to work perfectly with the larger Bigz XL dies.

We realize that many of you have already purchased some of our Bigz XL dies with score lines in their design. If you have used these dies with the Extended Cutting Pads, you may have experienced the die cutting through the score lines and not leaving the fold creases that you desired.

While this is not a common occurrence, this may happen due to the range of tolerances in the Big Shot machine as well as the variances in paper and other materials. If you are having this experience with your Bigz XL dies, we have come up with a way you can avoid this problem until the Extended Premium Crease Pad becomes available this spring. This is not a technique that we would recommend under normal circumstances, and we don’t recommend using it for any other purpose. However, in this case, it is the best alternative, and it is safe for both your Big Shot and your dies.

Create the following sandwich as a temporary solution for
Bigz XL dies with score lines:
Place the Bigz XL die face up, with no cutting pad beneath it.
Place the material you wish to cut on top of the die.
Place two Premium Crease Pads, end to end, on the material. If you don’t have two Premium Crease Pads, consider borrowing one from an upline, downline, or friend if possible.
Place an Extended Cutting Pad on top to complete the sandwich. (This will maintain an equal amount of pressure over both crease pads to eliminate the possibility of unwanted creases.)

Remember that this is only a temporary fix and soon you will no longer have to worry about your Bigz XL score lines with the Extended Premium Crease Pad! Once you have the Extended Premium Crease Pad, you will simply follow the sandwiching technique found in the instructions.
So now you can enjoy the extended Sizzix Big Shot Dies without worrying about cutting the fold lines…

tonight the Twilight DVD comes out! We're ready...!

Air Force One in Long Beach!

I was sitting in my car waiting for my daughter to return from talking to a Kindergarten teacher (she's teaching a class for a day). And....Air Force One lands at the Long Beach Airport!

This was Obama's plane landing, and then we saw Marine One take off as he went to Orange County Fairgrounds for a Town Hall Meeting! Marine One might have been the largest of the helicopters (third one from the right near the palm trees)

Since we live under the flight path of the Long Beach Airport, we stopped by on our way back home to see hoards of people thinking along the same thing as us! Taking a photo of Air Force One..but I guess since the President wasn't aboard it, it was just a Plane for the United States of America...it was a huge plane!

well, that was our excitement of the year!

~actually, I think I get more excited over the NEW Stampin' Up catalog and Convention! lol

Manhattan Flower Die

I know you've probably seen samples made with this die, but some of you are still on the fence!
So, I thought I would show what the die looks like and maybe that might just make you jump and get one of these!
I am hoping that this is the start of something great between Stampin' Up! and Sizzix!
The texture and the embossing this does is incredible, and I know my sample yesterday did not do this die justice!
This is what the packaging looks like.

The reverse side has all the size information that you will need to cut your cardstock.
As you can see, the folder is slightly larger than a regular A2 size card.

Die size is 4 1/2" x 5 3/4"!
The image doesn't go all the way to the edge but the image is made to fit the cardstock

This is what the die looks like after you've run it through the machine!
You can see a closer up image, and how deep the impressions made with the die are!

You will want to add this to your cards to give it more texture! I can't wait for more things that Stampin' Up is going to be coming out with!

PS. You can click on any of the photos to see them closer up!

Manhattan Flower Impression Die

I Love the TEXTURE Impression Die folder!
This is the NEW Manhattan flower folder! #114517 $7.95 pg 202
This is an Exclusive product to the Stampin' Up! Idea & Catalog!
I stamped it first with Fifth Avenue Floral, on Not Quite Navy in Versamark, and then ran it through the BIG SHOT!

I love the Old Olive that Accents this card, and it is mounted on Bashful Blue.
This is one of the cards we'll be doing this weekend at the Pop Up Card Class!....You'll have to stay tuned to see the inside of the pop up!
Have a Happy St Patrick's Day. Even though I am not Irish, I thought it was appropriate to use GREEN!

Poppin' for NCAA Basketball!

I am sure that most of you can care less about sports, but in our house, Basketball has been THE GAME for so long..and last year, we got to cheer our NCAA team all the way up to the FINAL Four, until they lost.........
So, this year, how many teams from So. CAL will go to the Playoffs?

I am playing with the new POP UP BALL DIE, and having a blast coming up with ideas! NOW for all of you that have BASEBALL, BASKETBALL, SOCCER fans! YOU can now make them a cool card that will make you a HIT with the whole team! (maybe with the Cake die, I can make a football???)

I used the SPORTING set, stamped in Tangerine Tango, and Basic Black, along with JUST BASKETBALL.
I used Tangerine Tango because it really isn't a color I use that much, and didn't want to favor any particular team(at least USC is still in the playoffs, but they're not favored -BUT they beat UCLA on Friday! WAHHH!)

Again...just have fun playing with this new Sizzix Pop up die!
STAYED TUNED for tomorrow for my BIG SHOT Special!

Pop into a Spring Tea Party!

I was experimenting with the POP up Ball Die and the TEA party Paper...and wow, it is fun, easy to put together, and although it does take some tracing around a template (which I made by using a piece of scratch cardstock) you can decorate your Pop UP ball into anything you want!

Some ideas is a calendar (you will need a teeny one to download to the 'pages'), Photo album with small photos from an event, or, Invitation, or just a pop into Spring card, like this one is!

I assembled the pieces according to the instructions included with the die. Add rubber bands. I used #16 Rubber bands which I had purchased previously from Staples.

You will need to use a card that is at least 6x12 (6x6 folded). When you lay it flat, be sure that the straight edge is lined up with the fold.

So that when it is flat, the card will fold. This shows how you push the ball down, and then you can close the card! I do want to say that I have the layers on the top of the card to reinforce the hole that you have to punch through so you can attach the ball (BE SURE TO PUT THE BRAD IN FIRST BEFORE ASSEMBLING THE BALL! otherwise, it takes finesse and a long nose plier...hint hint!) I also attached the ribbon to the underside, and then covered it with another piece of Pixie Pink cardstock.

Today I wanted to share the fun ideas that you can do to your boring walls at home! One of the most fun ways to decorate your home is to use Vinyl Wall Decor! Home Decor has Never been easier! You need to check out Stampin' Up!'s Decor Elements line!

it is so easy to apply and easy to remove! You can do it in a day, and it involves NO STAMPING or Paint! You can be your own artist!
Be sure to check out the entire line by clicking on the brochure with the tree above!

AND...on another note: Be sure to place orders for your BIG ITEMS in the catalog before the END of March! First of all, you will want to take advantage of the Sale A Bration and get a FREE stamp set, and also April 1st starts the NEW California State TAX, which is increasing to 9.25%.....

I am sure that 1% won't break your budget on most orders, but if it is a BIG item like the Big Shot, or the Starter kit, you will want to DO IT NOW!

Basketball Girl

I haven't used this set much, but I think mostly because I have to color in, and I have a few customers that really don't like to color! Also, this is a cute set, but I guess if I was making more scrapbook pages, it might be something I would invest in...so why did I buy it? Well, it was on special a few months ago, and I couldn't resist a sale! So, I decided to make a card for my daughter's basketball team coach. I used the colors of the team, Cardinal and Gold, and then realized I should've had the Alphabet set VARSITY! sigh..well, I might just get it, but I will wait until there is more $ for me to get it!

I have to say though, that someone who designed this at Stampin' Up! (and maybe someone who 'proofed' it) doesn't play basketball. There was a line missing from the ball. If you look at my ball, and then the one in the catalog, you will see the missing line! lol oh well!

More CraZy for Cupcakes!

Well, I thought I was all done with cupcakes! In fact, my daughter told me, the same thing....lol, Well, I had to do another one. I was working on one similar on Saturday for a friend, and then this one sort of inspired me to come up with 1 more version! So, this is using a strip of cardstock that is approx 3 1/2" x 11". I scored it in thirds, and then corner rounded the corners. Then I stamped it using the cupcake from the Crazy for Cupcakes in versamark. I also rolled the cupcake wheel and colored it in using markers.

The inside folds,

and then inside is a special gift for a friend..well, it is a used gift card (sorry..but it worked great as a sample idea!)

Wish List

AT CHA...I saw a new product demo'd. I loved it! It was so easy to use and of course, it was by Crop-a-dile! If you haven't used YOUR Crop-a-dile, then you're missing out on the easiest way to put in eyelets and punch holes! So, knowing how much easier life has been by having a Crop-a-dile, I knew that this product would be a winner too! I (hope) that SU will carry this in their line up since I do like a variety of corner rounders. We used to have a large one, and then a smaller one, with a deeper round corner, and now we have a teeny one with a shallow round tip.

This tool has 2 in 1, of course, and will do 2 different curves on the corner. SO, be looking for it in your craft stores, and maybe if we email Stampin' Up! maybe they will carry it too!

DID YOU SET YOUR CLOCKS FORWARD 1 HOUR?

oh last night I had a presentation from a nice young lady who was selling Cutco knives. I don't really NEED new knives, but they're such great knives, I broke down and bought some ...sigh..so I really need to sell some more stamps!

Mini Album Bella Rose

This was one of the items I got at the Scrapbook Expo last month, and I had to get several of them! They were from Melissa Frances, and they were little blank Mini albums! I love that they were small and compact, but the shapes were something of a challenge after I started looking them over.
For this weekend's cupcake class, I wanted to give those in attendance a small gift project to make and also inspire them to come up with some ideas for covering Pre-made books! It is easy, and simple once you see how you can make a cute gift for a friend you cherish!

The inside pages are stamped in Creamy Caramel using the Baroque Motif set. I alternated the spots where I stamped the insides, so that it make the pages already decorated! This book can be used for autographs for a teen, or maybe small snapshots of their friends, or for a friend who just had a Grandbaby....(well, I am not ready for that, and neither are some of my customers, but you get the general idea!) You can even use this book as a sketch book for ideas or a fancy grocery list....I keep wanting to make a permanent grocery list of staple items I buy each week, but haven't gotten around to that yet!

This book is palm size so it easily fits in your bag or purse, and can be carried around.... a small compact pen can be attached to the ribbon which is tied to the spiral spine!

Don't forget to set your clocks Forward tonight!
