Sharing and eScape

NEED A cool gift card? I got the idea from AMY CELONA....
This is a candy holder/giftcard holder/treat ...etc. I used the word window punch to put the slot to hold the item (in this case...a Gift card for CPK...coordinates perfectly with the chef from Voila! don't you think?) (Amy has great directions on her blog that you can download - FREE!)

I used Old Olive, and then stamped the chef in black on white cardstock, cut him out, and then attached him to the old Olive and used the dish around the window punch so that it looks like he's almost carrying the pizza.....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This one, was a irregular cut card, where I cut the front shorter than the front, so that the chef would hang over the edge. I then highlighted or spotlighted the birthday cake by coloring it in, over the area where the dish would be. I had to stamp the arm and the dish FIRST on the cardstock where the cake was and then stamp the cake afterwards. I colored the cake only, and then my daughter said the rest of the card needed something, so I colored in his face and hand.
This uses paper from the Home Again SS Kit, that was left over from my Family Treasures class, on Chocolate Chip cardstock that was cut shorter in the front than the back, and then the slot punch holds it closed
The truck is from the Loads of Love set, and the dogs are from the accessories set. I stamped the guy's face first, masked him, and then stamped the girl's face. It looks like he's in the drivers seat in the truck (no, I didn't think of doing it the other way with her driving...)
I love these dogs! :)
I colored in the truck using Prisma color pencils and using the brown to give the truck some age...!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The blue card, is actually a trifold card. I scored it using my Scor-PAL into thirds, and then thought, WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH IT NOW?? I decided it could look like a photo card and decided to punch it with the 1 3/8 punch several times. I kept punching and lining up the holes so that it was large enough for a photo to be place inside. I then attached adhesive to the card so that the top was open and I could insert a photo....I stamped it using the One of a Kind, and then stamped the flowers using Brocade Blue, Brilliant Blue, and Ballet Blue, and then punched the flowers out with the Boho Blossoms PUNCH...they match up pretty well! (they're supposed to!)
This is the inside of the card. Now, you can also do it so that the front is punch with a hole and put something behind it for the front.....

I like how this came out...I will have to post photos of how I lined up the punches so that it created this nice frame!
have a great Sunday tomorrow.....

blessings!
Dianne
NOTE: Sunday, I will be using my iPhone as my inspiration...curious???

Zeno's 4!

I have a friend, Diane, who lives in Milwaukee, WI. She has a son, who is turning 4...I don't usually make kids cards. Mostly, I do women..adults, teens....but, I like kid's cards. They are bright, cheerful and it was a challenge that I was going to take on..and make something fun too.

This card is a trifold card. I used the SCOR-PAL to make the card, and with this tool, it makes a PEFECT Trifold, everytime!

I colored in the Space ship from the PUN FUN set using my copic markers, and using basic bright colors - Ballet Blue, Real Red, Bashful blue and whisper white

The slot punch was punched on a separate cardstock and then layered on top to form a strip, but it holds the card down perfectly!

When you open up the card, you lift up the space ship side, and it will open up to show your message!

Happy 4th Birthday Zeno!

:)

No Time to Stamp Today...

Today, I didn't stamp. I did however, cut cardstock for the Family Treasures class that I am teaching on Saturday. And...when I was clearing off my table, I found a bright orange card that was from a Donation Company that I like to donate to. It is the ARC...Association for Retarded Citizens, Long Beach. I have a few friends there, that I know from Church, who are very functional adults, they have family caregivers, and the money they raise for their store goes towards the activities provided for them.

I forgot all about the date that they were coming...TODAY!!!...so I was trying to get things out there on my driveway for them to pick up. I tried to pull out the items and then as I was doing that, saw a few more things to take out, and then more things...and so I decided to climb up on the ladder to pull out more things from the rafters. I even found my daughter's high chair, and 2 car seats, in their original boxes, as well as a very heavy box of clothing from her baby days.

I pulled the boxes, as much as I could, got the high chair down, but couldn't get the car seats. I am afraid of heights. So, I was shaking my legs, and trying as hard as I could to reach the big boxes, and in my bad judgement, I knocked over some boxes, and it hit the water heater hoses at the top of the heater (and it is very yucky up there- the garage is dusty and the top of the water heater is really yucky!) I end up having a shower now, wetting the dirt that has covered my hands, face and body as the water is spewing out from the top of the waterheater. The hose broke....sigh...

So I now have to go to the hardware store and get 2 copper hoses, (OUCH!! those things are expensive!) and try to get the hoses off and replace them with 2 new ones. I think I am going to save those old ones...! They're valuable things! My friend's husband came over to rescue me since I couldn't get the bolts loose since they were covered with that icky white powdery stuff that gets all over metal stuff. (I don't remember what the technical term is...lol..)

After all that, I finally realize I have to get my daughter for her game from school after her practice, and then also realize, it is too late, and I missed the donation truck......so, then I have to haul all that stuff back into the garage....SO...not only did I miss the truck, I had to spend money on my house from something stupid that I created, miss picking up my daughter from school and missed part of her game.....(she got a ride to the game with another player!)

So...I will have to try to stamp some tomorrow, before I go to work...sorry I didn't get to do it today..it is just ONE OF THOSE DAYS!

Dianne

This cartoon drawing was from the Church Bookkeeper...who heard about my bad day..so he dropped this off at my work..ha ha....but, it pretty much sized up my day!!!

Jersey Shore DSP and Chipboard

Yesterday I was busy..stamping...and stamping...

I was trying to create a more masculine card set...and I love the bright colors in this Jersey Shore DSP set. I got the idea from my upline, upline, Sandy Hancock's meeting. There was a photo of this particular style done (in different colors, and different papers, and with a flower chipboard), that I JUST FELL IN LOVE WITH! But, we have to show different ideas, so we don't get bored...right?
The JUMBO Paper clip was from Target. Ribbons are the Striped Orange, and Navy Blue grosgrain ribbon. I used the Large Star Punch and the smaller Star Punch, to layer on the Chipboard star which was covered with Bashful Blue Craft ink

******************************************************************************

I have this set," BE HAPPY" which I rarely use..why? Maybe because I don't quite know what to do with all the elements in the set. So, I was looking through a book that has pop ups, and saw a card that had flowers that pop up when you open the card!

The flowers looked similar to this set...and then what to do with the front of the card... The front has Ballet Blue, Real Red, and Black. I stamped Black on Real Red, and then (stamped crooked) the words, "you're absolutely fabulous"
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The Pop up was created by cutting 6 parallel lines different lengths, equal distance apart from the center fold. The 2 side cuts were done 1/2" from the middle and the center was done 1" from the middle. (both ways, above the fold, and below the fold). Each pair of parallel lines is 1/2" away from the other. Then, when you fold it, you pop out the lines, to make the 'stems'. I cut a strip of paper 1/2" wide, x 6-8" and then cut them into various lengths to make the stems. Attaching the flowers to the top. The stems are higher than the pop up arm.
The Sun is made using the Scallop circle punch, but it was punched (carefully, twice) to make it look pointy. (looks like a sun, don't ya think?)

Tomorrow, I will draw for the Blog Candy.....! Be sure to leave your comments asap to win..and leave your email address so I can contact you!

Stampin a Surfin' Birthday Card

Well, as my daughter surfs, so does her friends...and they all are turning 16 this year....

I decided to help her make her card for one of her friend's birthday which is next weekend (actually, it was last weekend, but the party is this next weekend)....and so I made her a surfin' card....but, we don't have a surfboard stamp any longer! I got this one from American Art Stamps, so although it isn't Stampin' Up! it works for this card. (i just found out that this surboard stamp is discontinued).

This was done using the All In the Family set and Crab & Company. I used the "sand" from the seashell to make the sand all over. I colored it in with Creamy Caramel and cut a mask from the paper that you take the labels off of, to make the clouds. I sponged the clouds using that mask as well as stamped the surfboard first and then the girl to make it look like she was holding the board.

I wanted to use the crab, but it would've looked like a GIANT CRAB from a nuclear land waste that was going to eat the girl...lol ...gee..snappy birthday "MUNCH!" The background flowers were from Ginormous Flowers set.

The card used Ballet Blue (for the base card) and then Only Orange, with the whisper white images on top.

Happy Memorial Day weekend...is it a nice day for you? It is nice over here now that it has stopped raining..(who would've thought it would rain in Southern California on Memorial Day weekend?)

ps: My daughter is decopaging surfin photos on a painted wood frame and then she'll decorate chipboard letters to put on the top of the frame (SURF). It will hold a photo of the friend surfing.....pretty cool...i guess my daughter is a closet crafter...shhhhhh!

Fresh Cut Stamp set preview...and having a bad day...

Do you ever have an OFF day? I mean, it almost seems that you've done everything wrong..the stars are not aligned (not that I believe in the stars as a guide...but hey..I can't blame it on my faith..!) But....Tuesday was one of those days....

I had to work..and then after work, I had a graduation/PTA meeting at school, and so I was sitting at the computer blogging while I should've been getting ready...but it was a really long day of craziness at work..so I needed to blow off stuff and share stuff on my blog...

I realized the time to go, ran to my room, saw my shirt that I wanted to wear to the meeting, and it was 'inside' out (ugh!)...so I turned it right side out (I THOUGHT...do you see where this is going?) and threw it on...I drank some soup in a mug and spilled it on my shirt..ran to the bathroom to wash that out, but now I had this wet blob on my shirt....

So...running to the car...now, we're not late or anything..so I don't know why I was thinking we're running to the car....but, trying to dry my shirt off as I drive off to the school, which is about 14-15 minutes away....

Get to the meeting, which is in the library (media center now, as they call it) and find my friend, and sit down...they get it started...

I realize as I am sitting there...that my shirt is sort of dry, but has a faint wet spot on it...

but then..to my horror.......I realize it is inside out...now, how did that happen? Of course, it is one of those polo shirts from Old Navy, which has that raggedy look to it, and so I didn't know which side was the right side until I look at my side, which has the tags hanging out...

Now, there are 50 people in this room, planning grad night for the seniors...and I am sitting there (gratefully, in the back of the room) with a shirt inside out....IS EVERYONE LOOKING AT ME????

Isn't that the time you wish you could wake up from a bad dream???

LOL...any ways...I had one good point to make.... I got my NEW Stamps! So, I guess it wasn't all bad... This is a preview stamp from the NEW catalog coming out in August! Isn't it PURTY! And it is DIE CUT! So you don't have to cut or trim!!! You just punch, peel and stick!

Starting in June, You can order this set and get die cut cards to go with it. It is called FRESH CUTS.
You get 15 die cut note cards, which you punch out the petals, and you can stamp! I punched out the star flower and attached to the back of the punched flower and then attached a Rhinestone brad to the center. I had to use a long reach punch to punch the hole (sorry..non SU), but it will fit inside

Now, I don't know if my bad day had anything to do with this card..it is "ok" from my point of view, but you can see the possibilities of this card and stamp set! You can order this set at 21.95 starting June 1st to June 30th, and you can get the die cut cards for 5.00 (extra packages of cards are available at the price of 8.95)
Code for the Fresh Cuts stamp set is: 111634 Fresh Cut Note Cards: 111882

Beach Book (ok, it isn't as bad as it sounds!)

I see all those lovely books that are die cut and they have a lovely theme..."family", "love", "cherish"...etc...

but here in Long Beach, we have all those things, but mostly...there is this: BEACH...........No, not what it 'sounds' like.....but, the thing with sand, ocean, waves, surfin'...cute guys...suntans...cute guys....... ha ha...like I see them.......I see 'little boys' and 'old guys' with boards.... I digress!!.......it is only natural that I would come up with my own layered book, and I used the chipboard to create my word book! And..since it is 25% off this month...why not use them to my advantage and come up with a new project to use them!
This is definitely a work in progress! (I did use discontinued background paper from the Just Delightful SS kit) and I have to admit (OOOH NO!) I made a big boo boo....can you see it?

The pieces of chipboard are layered 1" intervals, (the longest is 12")

YUP here it is.....!! I will have to cover this boo boo with some cutesy glued embellishment..but it was a goof spot as it was drying, I smudged it with something wet, (dripped a spot of water or something on it, and then tried to rub it out (NOT A GOOD IDEA!)..any ways, I will try to layer on some more CRAFT ink and then cover it up with something if that doesn't work.....

25% off Chipboard, good until May 31....don't miss out on this great deal!
I did use my bind it all to bind the pages together, and it was very easy to do...oh, and if you have any trouble trying to get the pages to line up in the middle, this is what I do....
**TIP***
I put a post it edge at the center (I line it up using a ruler at the center). Then I take it to the Bind it all machine, and line that up at the arrow on the center, and then punch the holes. If you use that method for each page, then it will line up all the pages. They are too thick to do 2 at a time, so you have to punch them one at a time. (if you can't visualize what I am describing, leave me a comment and I will post photos)

**************************************************
Don't forget the Blog Candy...leave a comment on my blog and you'll be entered into the drawing for the stamps and accessories!

Family Treasures - Confetti Birthday Style!

My daughter has a birthday gift that she needed for a friend...who is turning 16. I am going to add the numbers 1 and 6 to this and make it a gift that she can put photos in from the party.... The Confetti SS kit #109610 19.95 pg 174 was perfect for this Album book! I used the left overs from my blog entry for the Birthday Scrapbook in a Box....(and added a few non textured cardstock instead of opening up another package of texture cardstock (or another ss kit..) to make this book. I think that the colors Rose Red, Old Olive, Taken with Teal, are perfect! I didn't use the Sahara sand, since I had used up most of it, for the Scrapbook in a box. The Adhesive die cuts are also from the kit, and although a lot of them were used for the other project, I basically had 1/2 the stickers left to do this project!I think that they lended themselves to complete the project, and the colors are bright and cheery!

The touches that Andrea tells you to use make the book look so nicely put together! Now, my daughter who refuses to scrapbook or stamp or create, wants one of her own..do you think she should maker her own?? lol...I think I might just let her off, and make one for her.....

What a way to use up all the pieces and come out with 2 Great projects!

Family Treasures Album Summer Days

I finished the cover of the album...but I am not going to post the insides yet....I was so excited to get this all together, I did it thursday night after getting home from work...yes I did sleep..since it was almost all together, but I had to finish it, had to get it all completed....and see what I accomplished! ..All I need to do is add photos...and then Voila! it is done.

inside the front cover.....

If you want to see the inside, you will need to email me or post a comment to my blog, and I will post more pictures

....I followed Andrea's tutorial, to the best that I could, but then had to add my own elements from the kit, since there were not all the same "adhesive die-cuts". I love the bright colors, and can't wait now for summer. My daughter even liked it so much that she wants to make her own book for a friend! I didn't want to post more photos because (of respect to Andrea's blog and)... to get her tutorials more advertisement!.....

Don't you want to make one of these now?

Family Treasures Mini Album, Summer Days

Have you ever had one of those "giddy" moments or feelings of excitement where you wish you could forget that you need to do something like "WORK" at a real job, or you could stop time so that you could just keeping working on that project that you're right in the middle of???

Well, today, was one of those days...I was working on a sample of Andrea Walford's Family Treasure Memory book, using a Simply Scrappin' Kit that I had (Summer Days) 110587 19.95 pg 175.

I was still waiting for my Home Again kit...and so, I decided to bite the 'bullet' and open up my package of Summer Days. I buy these kits and never open them, because I love to have them..."just in case", and then regret that I didn't open them....so, I thought, I better get going and make sample so I won't look stupid trying to teach this class....

I love this kit! I love this particular project. My favorite color is red. My favorite season is Summer...so this is the perfect SS kit to use for this....This is still a Work in Progress, because I had to go to WORK...(my real job) but hated to leave this unfinished...I will work on it more during the weekend, but to tease you, I am going to share a couple of photos with you......
I will show more of it later..S T A Y -*-T U N E D !!!!!!!

Build a Brad Bracelets

Patty Bennett had a great idea that she shared on her blog, and it was using the Build A Brad and bracelets! I loved the idea, and had purchased several of the Build a brad kits to make a link of brads, but this way is soooo much easier! You don't have to link them together, you just attach them to this chain! HOW simple is THAT??

I did silver and then also a gold one. I originally had magnetic clasps on them but they were too strong (believe me..they are strong magnets...so I have to get other clasps...) I actually did these last weekend, but I couldn't get a good photo of them...these still are not the best pictures that I have done...need to get better lighting... Sorry! This is closer up with a little better lighting...and you can see the assorted beads I added to the links.

This one is very plain. I still need to add some cute beads to it...but you can see how easy it is and how cute it can be!!! (and Gold tone, because I wear gold mostly)

This is something else I have been working on, ...for Graduations...leis for friends. My friend's daughter is graduating from CSU Dominguez Hills, and her graduation is Friday. I know College Graduation is supposed to be Black and Gold, but the school colors are Cardinal and Gold, so I decided to make it pretty by using the school colors. I also am making them for some of my daughter's friends from her own high school...Long Beach Wilson, Bruins...(yes, they are cardinal and gold...with the Bruins mascot....) For those of you who don't live in the area, the big rivals in our town is UCLA vs USC. (UCLA= Bruin, Blue and Gold, USC= Trojans, Cardinal and Gold)...someone in Long Beach had a really funny sense of humor!

Chipboard fun - Making it more practical!

I was having more fun with the chipboard today, and decided to break out the On Board GINORMOUS Flowers. I decided to use the Spring Break DSP and use those lovely colors to embellish the flower frame, and make it into something practical and decorative. I used the petmesh screen you can pick up at the hardware store (it isn't pet proof...I have a dog that will rip it to shreds, so don't believe that it is pet resistant!...maybe for little teeny dogs)
First, I glued the paper to the chipboard, using the stick glue. I then used my sharp blade to cut around the chipboard.

I sanded the edges to get them smoother, so they wouldn't look so rough

I put sticky tape around the back side of the opening for the screen. I used small pieces to go around the curve. I tried originally to use 1 piece, but this was easier.

I cut the piece of screen to fit around the opening. (I actually used the cut out piece from the center, and cut it approx 1/4" larger all the way around.

By taking off a few piece of the Sticky tape on the back, and laying the screen mesh over the sticky tape, I gently applied the mesh so that it was taut and straight.

I think it came out pretty good, after I turned it over....

I then covered the flower, and the center using different contrasting papers from the Spring Break package.

I then cut out the leaves using a different contrasting paper from the package

I like the checker board-ish look for the leaves. I then attached it to the frame using the Sticky tape. It is stronger, and will hold better, although I think the glue stick would've worked just fine, it was just less messy.

Using the Crop-A-Dile, I punched the holes. I had to punch them twice so I could get the JUMBO Eyelet in the hole

Using the Crop-A-Dile, I then squeezed it using the pronged side, through the hole. This photo shows how you move the Crop-A-Dile to the project. (sorry, this might be really elementary, but I wanted to be sure it was clear)

You then put the prong into the eyelet, and GENTLY squeeze, to adhere the eyelet to the project. Be sure you do it GENTLY!

I used suede cord from the craft store to hang it. I used a hangman knot to attached it through the brad (I don't know what to call that knot, so I apologize for the name)
Voila! It is done, and very cute to hang earrings on it...don't ya think?
for a "tween"
(my girl doesn't wear earrings, and wrinkled her nose at it! Hmmmphf!)
