Watercolor Trio card

To hide extra string, make a flap for the front of the card. Punch your holes, and add your jumbo brads

wrap the threads around twice and tie to the backside. Adhere this flap using sticky red tape

Sometimes, we need to change up our cards
I get inspired from our Stampin' Up monthly magazine, Stampin' Success and the mini catalog!

This card is 3x 12 folded in 1/2 to be a 3x6 card. I tore the edge slightly on the old olive which was folded over. The jumbo eyelets are threaded with linen thread. The stamped images are done using Soft Suede and Old Olive....and don't forget to stamp the envelopes too!

STAY TUNED for JUNE 1st!!!

Presto Patterns +Buttons!

I haven't been doing much in classes lately but today we had a Stamp A Stack..Now, I can't say this is one of my easiest cards...I think I heard a lot of complaints about threading and tying the knots on the buttons! But, I love the cute little buttons that will enhance anything placed under it!

I also used the Presto Pattern papers to make my little squares that are under the buttons, plus if you look under the buttons, you will see the punched shapes! (We have punches that match the buttons!- isn't that cool!)
We sponged Old Olive, Soft Suede, and So Saffron on the cardstock to bring out the designs like MAGIC!
I love using my Big Shot to cut the shapes!

Now...as I am watching the Western NBA conference game...and hoping the Lakers will pull out a win against the Suns - it is going to be a nail biter....I have to get a cake for my family function tomorrow. NOW might be a good time to go, I am already biting my nails!!! ggggg!

Summer Island Visit

I saw this card on our Stampin' Connect network and fell in love!
Savor it..
I used all the dies from the new Summer Mini 2010 Catalog, called Island floral. I am working on more samples, but the colors from this are from the Designer paper, Island Oasis. If you're into tropical, then this flower, and the dies, papers and accessories, si all for you!!
Get ready for Summer....it's coming!
My daughter is a senior and graduating, and although the years have gone by with lots of events, it has blown by FAST! We always think that some moment in time is going by slowly (especially when it isn't a good thing, but when life has been filled with blessings, it sure goes fast!).

Ribbon Leis

It is that time again...GRADUATION! I have to make more leis this year, and most of all, my daughter is graduating! So it will be my last year of making them for her friends!

I might have to make a few for next year, but I think for the most part, I am D O N E!!!!

That's the most exciting part! (at least until college is over!)
This ribbon is 3/8" with gold trim, on both edges. I love how the gold just makes this pop!

Motorcycle Wishes.....

Father's Day is around the corner, and although my dad is not a motorcycle kind a guy, I love this stamp! I think that it is the most masculine stamp I now own! (giggle!)

I combined it with the Square Lattice Embossing folder in Basic Gray, and 3 Red Brads. The silver Encore ink finished it off with the words for "...may all your wishes..." I think there is always a motorcycle in every guy's thought or dreams at one time or another!

Suitcase packed, ready to travel!

or ..............Hawai'i, or BUST!

Wow...what a week so far. I haven't felt like stamping, because I have been busy getting my daughter ready for PROM! But...I have been thinking of new things, so my mind is going even if my stamping (or blogging)... isn't ...!

I signed up to be a part of Andrea Walford's Pop up class....Andrea and her sister are very clever ladies, and I always enjoy their projects!

The object isn't to copy or case their projects, but to make them your own! To start off with, I used Box #2. I wanted to use the box because I have the die, and I NEED to use it for more than just making a cute little box!
I will try to create a tutorial for this, but it will have to be AFTER PROM! (MAY 22)

My daughter is going to Hawai'i after school gets out. It is part of her gift from her dad for Graduation, and also because we have a nephew getting married to a very special girl! I am not going because it is my ex-inlaws, and although I love them all very much, I know it would make my ex uncomfortable if I went.
But, ...I can send off my daughter with a nice card, right!!!????

The pop up is very easy to create using the box, and it is thinking OUT OF THE BOX, that I decided to use it!
Andrea's class was really fun, and although she has 2 samples up so far, this was really fun to do!
Supplies:
I used Box #2 to create this suitcase, using Sophia's inspiration (tissue box)
Box #2
Billboard alphabet
In a Word
Tropical Party
Square Lattice Embossing folder
Brad
Corner rounders
Tab Punch (to make handle
Scallop border punch
Island Oasis Designer paper
Taken with Teal
So Saffron

Little Bag for a little dog!

I thought I would show you how I finished my little baggie bag...(for my doggie walks)

I cut out some flowers from the Floral Fusion Sizzlet out of turquoise fabric. I had a fat 1/16th laying around and so I cut out a few of the flowers. You have to cut 1 layer at a time and there might be a few threads that will not cut..so use a scissor to carefully snip the threads so you can remove your flowers.

Layer them on top of each other and sew a small button through all the layers. I didnt' glue it or anything, just sewed them together.

Voila!
Simple and fun...and walking in style!

Do the HULA (retired stamp)

This set is retired, but I love it. Since we live by the beach, I had to keep this set. I used the hibiscus to stamp the envelopes.

Using the rock n roll technique, I first inked the hibiscus in Pumpkin Pie, and then rolled the edges in Melon Mambo. The blue flower is inked in Tempting Turquoise, and then rolled in Bermuda Bay. I LOVE how it looks! The leaves were inked in Always Artichoke.

These envelopes are going to hold the prizes for my daughter's party....will show more ideas later.....

My daughter's friends...(most of the others started to leave before i got a group photo...but it was a fun time and a great memory for her 18th birthday.....She thanked me for doing this for her, and isn't that the nicest thing for a daughter to say!?

Fabric Painting & Stampin, of course!

In my "other" life...as a quilter, I used to do all sorts of fabric painting and piecing. I took classes at quilt shows, with teachers like Judy Mathieson, and Sherrill Kahn, and did quilts like Watercolor quilts, Quilt a pets (out of 1000's of 1" pieces of fabrics)...and Handpainting my own fabrics...so I have lots of beautiful paints....sadly, though, some of them I had to toss because the paints became too dry - IN-ACTIVITY! But, I was able to salvage a few of them....

I have this little doggie and on my last trip to SLO (San Luis Obispo) I decided that I needed a little 'ditty' bag to carry plastic baggies for my little dog for her "ahem" business. I happily got out this canvas bag, and strapped it to the leash, so I would have it with me in case of emergency!

But what "artist" can resist a BLANK CANVAS? Isn't that a crime? ..and often times, isn't our motto if it isn't moving STAMP IT??

So realizing this is a NO-NO, I pulled out my paints...

These are lovely pearlized paints that you can use on paper or fabric, so I got them out. I think the Smooch spray paint got me inspired to do something with this. My puppy's colors that we used for her leash and collars are PURPLE. (LAKER's colors, right! - well, it wasn't the real reason, but it works :D)

Sponging the color directly on the bag, and moving the colors around to get the most use out of the colors...

I got the *brilliant* idea to wash the bag to smoosh the colors around more, but then it was too wet!!!
I can't stamp on the wet canvas because then the stamped image would smear, right?

So, I got ANOTHER *brilliant* idea....(NOT) to use my daughter's hair straightener to dry and smooth it out but....as I was moving it around, I gasped when I saw the ceramic plates...

gee, do you think she's going to notice?? I guess I can use the ol' stand-by..."I DU-NO?" as the reason why it looks like this!

*grin*

Well, I got out my Dye-na-Flow paint which is a really vibrant, loose, watery paint, and sponged it on the stamp. It goes on very loose, but the color is so bright!

This is what my bag looks like so far. I need to add more embellishments to it to finish it, but I have to go off to the store to find more stuff....heh heh....

Now, I will finish it probably this weekend, and then you can see how simply easy this was to finish!
Since we live by the beach, almost all of our dog's stuff is hawai'ian fabric and themed!

Watercolor Trio

New stamps are always fun to play with! I decided to use my markers and the Watercolor Trio set to make a new card!
I love the new texture folder and although I have used it before, I really love the soft texture that it creates. It almost feels like fabric or corrugated paper. Nice texture!

I used
Basic Gray
Sahara Sand
Real Red
Whisper White
Markers
Real Red
Garden Green
Ribbon
Satin Red Ribbon

How to make the Memories to Go Album

You can get these canvas boards at your local BIG BOX Store. They come in a package of 3

They are pre primed so no need to do any other preparation

(no gesso needed)

I used craft Ink in Old Olive

Stamped all over the surface! I then sponged Old Olive around the edges

Sponged more around the leaves.

Sponged Garden Green around the edges for more color

Cut 12x12 cardstock
5 7/8" x 12 (2 pieces) You can cut 2 more pieces if you want your accordion book to have more pages.
score at 3 3/4" and 7 1/2"
Attach each page to the next by using Sticky tape to the 3/4" flap that is on the end.

This is a simple accordion album, and maybe it is or isn't to your taste but of course, you can "stylize" it to your tastes!

Making Memories...to go!

Making Memories to GO

My daughter is taking a trip to Hawai'i for a wedding for my nephew (my ex's nephew). So, for her first trip to Hawai'i, I decided to utilize the cool papers in the new mini catalog, Islands Oasis...isn't it just perfect for a tropical vacation? She can put things in it while she is on her trip and it is small enough to carry around as well!

And with this month being National Scrapbooking Month, you can start your summer trips early by making a quickie album!

The cover is a 4x6 Canvas from your local Big Box Craft Store. I will show you how to assemble the book tomorrow!

The insides are not finished yet. The papers coordinate perfectly with the NEW Tropical Party stamp set in the Mini, as well as with JUST SURFING, and EXTREME Surfboard sets! (Windsailing or skateboarding would work too! as well as SHOPPING!...I mean, who doesn't shop while on vacation?

More of the same card....

2 more cards, using the same stamp set, same colors and format...but just changing the greeting!

Sometimes I stamp several cards to send out which once you have a nice format, you don't have to keep changing it, just change the colors or change the phrase!

If you are hesitating about being a demonstrator, you don't have to worry about how to come up with 'new' ideas...you can come up with new cards by changing what you find on other blogs and websites...

Have a great weekend, and enjoy Mother's Day!

Today, I am at the REVLON Walk for Women, down in Los Angeles, around USC and the Coliseum. I know it is a great way to be a part of the community, supporting a great cause!

Mother's Day Cards for my Sisters in Laws

I have 2 sister in laws, and they have been great sisters to have in the family. I decided that this year, I would send them a stamped card. (what? I haven't done it because they don't like stamping, and don't think it is such a great gift..they would rather have a store bought card-or at least that's what I always feel since they never say anything)

But....since I have to 'save' money, I have to start making cards because store bought cards are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE! I mean, I have this stuff here at home, why buy cards to mail out??

so, these are the 2 cards I am sending out to them this year.....

I stamped the flowers first in black and then the 2 step stamping Flower Fancy in Real Red, Old Olive. I added glitter to the center of the larger flower for added "BLING!"

I am getting better about glitter...trying to use it more often! :D

for MOM...

I like to make card that are not ordinary..I think some times, they are just like everyone elses, but today's card is not your run-of-the-mill card...I took a 4 1/4x11 card, and also another piece 4 1/2 x 4" (the smaller piece is scored at 1/3 of the 11 side - see your Scor-pal)

I cut out chocolate chip pieces at 3" square, and the Pixie Pink 3 1/4" x 3 1/4". I cut the chocolate squares (embossed with the dots) with the ticket corner punch and layered it over the Pixie pink. I added the silver brads to the corners, and then the letters on top. I love how the pink stands out over the chocolate cardstock!

I laid the ribbon across the middle of the card, and then added the lettered squares to the card, over the ribbons. (the ribbon is not attached). It can slide out.

I actually added the square with the white card section because I felt it needed balance, so it was added.... but it also leaves me with a space to write something mushy to my mom..

Tied up the book folds neatly and will stand up to the mailing. I have it in a regular (A2) size envelope and also then it is in a Padded envelope.
The heart is stamped with "wonderful Mother" on the heart punched piece which is layered over the heart scallop die piece..

opened up, it will sit on her counter....!
I am sending this off early (Wednesday) so it won't be late...I often times mail it too late and with this one being bulky, it needs extra time...hee hee!
