Pensees Sympas not Available and other updates

The following stamp sets from the 2011 Occasions Mini Catalog will not be available:
Pensées sympas (clear): item 122425
Pensées sympas (wood): item 122423
An error was discovered in the set, and due to the lead time required to make the correction and the short time the Occasions Mini is available, making the correction is not feasible. We apologize for the inconvenience. (French)

Also,
The Stampin' Scrub is now on "extended unavailability" due to vendor raw material shortages. Stampin' Up! will be working closely with the vendor but this unexpected shortage may take a few months to rectify.

Update on Punches

December 21, 2010
As you know, we have been working to resolve quality issues with the Ornament Punch (item 119847) and the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch (item 118874). We want to update you on the status of these punches. Please note that because the quality issues are different for each punch, we have different plans for dealing with each punch.

2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch We are currently testing new punch samples from our vendor. We are working as quickly as possible to complete testing. After we have completed testing and have approved modifications to the punch, we will begin production. When we have more information, we will let you know when these punches will be available to order.

Ornament PunchWe are currently inspecting the inventory we have in our warehouse to ensure that the punches we have in stock are working correctly. After we are satisfied with the quality of the inventory we have in stock, punches will be available to order.

We have been asked if the quality problems are due to the new body style and the punch changeover. We want to assure you and your customers that these quality issues are not related to the new body style; instead, individual metal pieces inside the punches are defective. These parts were also part of the old body style, and the defective parts are different for each punch.
We thank you for your patience as we strive to ensure that the products we sell are of the highest quality and value. We will update you on our progress as we work through these issues.

Knitting Gifts...

I made this shrug from Plymouth Fantasy yarn, which is a nice mercerized cotton yarn. It was a quick and easy project with a nice lacy pattern!

I got the pattern from www.Ravelry.com which is a free website for those of you who knit or crochet!

I wrapped it in a cello baggie and added a tag that I created from yesterday's MDS project! So simple to create and yet came out so cute!

MDS Cutest Tags...MDO = MADE to Order!!!!

Patty Bennett has done it again...and I had to come up with my version of her Penguin tags!
To see Patty's blog, <---click!

But, to make my tags more unique and put a different look on it, I decided to use my Cocoa cans that my dad gave me for Christmas last year as inspiration! I love the snowman, and the reindeer, penguin and polar bear!

I designed the tags using MY Digital Studio, and the punch shapes, embellishments and all the decorative artwork that you can download on MY Digital Studio! Printed them on paper that is for brochures, so that the cardstock wouldn't get jammed in my printer, and then adhered them onto the Stampin' Up! cardstock!

The tags are mounted and punched, ready to be attached to the packages.....

And I also made cards to MATCH!!
Aren't they cute!!!????

Gifts on a dime - part 3 !!!

NOW..this is the last in the series of Gifts on a dime - at least for now. I made this one for my co-worker, Maria. She loves green. I also knitted her something special, which I will show you maybe tomorrow....
I have to still wrap that one! This is also using the bulk buy from A Walk in the Park. I used the other series of paper that was in the bulk buy. I added brushed gold paper as an accent and gold paid from the All Purpose ink in Champagne Mist. I used that in the centers of the flowers.

To make the box, I cut
7 1/2 x 6 1/2 from cardstock and also from clear acetate.
Score 3/4" all the way around. Since I made 6 cards and enveloples, this needed to be 3/4" deep.
Cut and fold in the sides and use the sticky red tape to attach. Place your cards inside and add a pen. If you don't want to add a pen, cut your cardstock and acetate 7 1/2" x 6" instead.

The cards are placed inside and the envelopes are lined!
You can see the gold paint better in this picture and the brushed gold cardstock. Gold always looks good with green...maybe because of the color of money?? hmmmm....

Gifts on a dime 2 !!!!

Pulling out more from my retired stash, I found this package that had "A walk in the park" designer papers - this is actually from the bulk package that we (as demonstrators) were allowed to purchase.
I pulled out the paper, and decided to make more cards for Lin', my co-worker. She's a stamper but she only buys what she needs, and after all the years of stamping, she pretty much has all she needs for her necessary things...but, she hasn't ever purchased the designer papers that Stampin' Up! carries...so..

I put together this group of notecards for her, and Baja Breeze because Lin' likes blues! I stamped the flower from Fifth Avenue Floral in basic black and sponged Baja Breeze to accent the flower and the scalloped circle. The sponging brings out the embossed dots as well!
I also lined the envelopes to match the cards, and stamped the flower on the envelopes as well! All of this is put in a nice cute little box, tied with Baja Breeze stitched grosgrain ribbon...
voila! another gift on a dime!!!

Gifts on a dime!

I am calling this post, Gifts on a dime because I already spent the money and it is just stuff that is sitting in my house...retired, and mostly forgotten!
I was trying to get rid of them by selling them to friends, or giving them away, but now that it is getting close to Christmas, I figured, it is time to let them go..but...you can't just give away a bunch of printed papers and die cut stickers to NON Stampers, right?

To show them (and you!) potential for discarded (or almost discarded) stuff,
creativity needs to be brought out and displayed! Well, I decided to pull out this one and JUST DO IT!
I cut up some Marina Mist cardstock (I don't have anything left of the cardstock that matches this so Marina Mist had to do) and I cut up the printed designer paper, which was one sided! I had a little block on what to do, so I just started laying it on the card....
Adding the die cut stickers, and then making a box, adding envelopes...
This will make a great gift for one of my co-workers who has a 8 year old son, who probably goes to birthday parties..and I think this will come in handy for her! It is just a nice gift for all that she's done in my office, and so, without spending any money, I made this for her! I had the pens and all the other items in my stash of stuff, and being that I am on a tight tight budget, I was able to use my stash without spending!
Stay tuned for more last minute gifts on a dime!

Christmas cards in a jiffy!

Each Year...my friends and family expect a Christmas Card...and each year, I stamp over 100 cards! But this year, the economy has stifled my creativity ...and my budget!

I can't do my usual 100 cards....so, I decided that I am going to send them to just a few people....hopefully, they will understand how painful it is for me to do that but .....

I pulled out my My DIGITAL Studio! I started looking through the templates for the cards, and I came across this one.

It is called Christmas Jingle, and it had this one PRE-Designed!

All I had to do, was the add the photo! So...after shooting a few pictures of my daughter and our doggie at the beach....I plugged in this photo! I had it printed and then got some cardstock/and envelopes at the craft store, and added my pictures to the cards! I also got some glittery sticker type greetings to add some sparkle! I am going to add something else inside the card, and I also did a newsletter.....

Now..I am only making about 30 cards this year...but I really like how they came out..(the photos themselves only cost about 6.00 and the card/envelopes were 3.00 (less than that because it had 50 cards in the package!) Now...all I need to get is the stamps! er...postage stamps, that is! LOL

voila! done!

Practical gifts for knitters!

Now this is a boring project. Well, if you're not a knitter, this is boring. I'm sorry but for me, a knitter who has too much of everything...I really have had this project in mind for a long long time! I decided that today is the day that I'm going to do it!

So, I gathered up my supplies:
  • Shrink Plastic
  • Punch
  • Craft Ink
  • Emery Board
  • Sharpie pen
  • Split rings (various sizes)
  • Plier
  • Toaster or heat gun
  • Crop a Dile

Punch out several pieces of shrink plastic using whatever punch you would like to use. I decided to use the Designer Label punch, because it had a nice space to write the needle size and the length, plus I could stamp on the back of it.

I punched the hole using my CropA Dile, add the split rings and the information of the needle, and then heat in the toaster (see the above photo).

After the item is shrunk, add the necessary other split rings so that it can be added to your circular needles. Circular needles are needles that have 2 needles but are joined with a nylon cable.

I wrote the Needles size in the large circular section, and then the needle length below that. I also added the ball of yarn to the BACK side of the needle marker. This way, when I am searching for a needle in my package of circular knitting needles, I have them already marked!
What a relief this is, because as I am getting older, I can't read the numbers etched into the needles as well as before..plus, some of the needles, the numbers get worn off....so this will save me a ton of time to get the project done!

Got Milk?

I like looking through the food stuff that they carry at stores like Marshalls and Ross. They always have some of the most unusual items for sale! I found these, for only 2.99!
I thought why not..it looked cool, and of course, how can anyone resist CHOCOLATE???
These cute little straws are perfect for a holiday gift, or for Valentine's Day, which is what I thought is perfect for thinking ahead!
I made a holder using cardstock by cutting a
2" x 11" piece of Early Espresso
Score at 1/2", 1", 2", 3", 7 1/2", 8 1/2", 9 1/2"
Punch holes in the section between 1/2 and 1
and then again between 7 1/2, and 9 1/2 (double thickness)
I added pieces of Pretty in Pink and then stamped the hearts from I (Heart) Hearts stamp set.
All you do with the straw is to place it in your cup of milk and sip!!! (no cutting required!)

SIMPLE thanks!

Patty Bennett (<--click) had a great card posted using the a la carte stamp called Elizabeth on her blog, and I just had to create my own version of it! I love how elegant it INSTANTLY makes a card look....!
I used Black and white cardstock and white craft ink with Classic Black ink. The black cardstock is punched along the sides using the scallop punch border.
The Thanks is from the Perfect Punches stamp set, and this "thanks" stamp is so beautiful with the Elizabeth stamp that I just had to share it with YOU! Of course, it can be created in just a snap, and you will want to make several of these in my next Stamp a stack in January! We will be creating several different variations (in color and style) using this stamp!

Gift Display Box for Bath & Bodyworks

I love making boxes, and this box is perfect for a gift for a co-worker. I put in a small bottle of Bath & Bodyworks spray scent. It fits just perfectly, but you can make this larger or smaller as needed..

I covered the sides using the Candy Cane Christmas paper - just too cute!

It still needed something so I punched the designer label in Baja Breeze, Snowflake in Whisper White and heart from the trio punch in Real Red.

Adding ribbon to the box and using the jumbo eyelets finishes the box & the ribbon tied to the top of the box.

So busy clicking needles...click click click!

My Mini Squash Tri fold book is something new I came across. I was at Pine Cone Press (a cool store in Santa Ana) that has a squash book that was just so different! I decided to put my mind into gear and create it using only Stampin' Up! papers and cardstock! I will show you more...

Color Trends for Spring

Stampin Up always has the hots for the color trends, and I always wonder who chooses these colors. Now this particular color chart isn't from Stampin' Up! but from an article I saw on aol. I think that the Regatta color looks similar to our Pacific Point, and the Honeysuckle looks like Melon mambo....
There is so much in the NEW Mini coming up in January and also SALE A Bration is coming up! It is so exciting to see the new trends!!! Stay tuned and I will post some of the new hot hot hot things coming soon!
