Scoring your Cards - Blog Candy!

I use my Scor pal to score most of my projects. I know that this is NOT a SU product, but one of the discussions that has been going around is using the other brand that is out. What I do like about it, is that it has score lines at 1/8". I find that I do use a lot of different lines, but I wish this also had marks that shows the 1" grooves.

SALE A BRATION is going on right now, and what that means is that for every 50.00 in merchandise you purchase, you get a FREE ITEM! This set is one of the free items! I love how simple and cute this is, and even if you HATE coloring, you can do this! I was inspired by Mary Fish, who had a sample on her blog that had colors that were similar. I decided to take this a different way and use Crushed Curry cardstock along with Real Red, and Tempting Turquoise. The heart punch and the heart embossed scallop die compliment the card by adding dimension as well as the ribbon and the "happy birthday"....not to leave out the brads, (which are discontinued, but hey, I have to use stuff, rather than toss them out!)

I love to use my Scor Pal and my MS Scoring tool..and...I love the Olympics, I just wish I knew how they score points in Curling!!! ahhhaaa haa! The Olympics ends on Sunday...love the sports (all sports).

Post a comment on my blog to win the tutorial: BENTO BOX of CARDS!
Drawing will be on March 3rd (GIRLS DAY in Japan!)

Simple Card Class

Simple cards. HA! After deciding to do a "SIMPLE" Card class for this Saturday, I sat down this last weekend and started designing the cards. I should NEVER do that. They are NEVER simple. But, I had inspiration from other sources, and I cased 2 of them....I did some changes, and alterations with sizes and shapes, but for the most part, they are cased! One card was inspired by Andrea Walford, and the other one by Mary Fish. Both are amazing, talented stampers! I love their sense of design and color! This is the reason why, they were "simple"....!
What is CASING? TO Case is to COPY And SHARE Everything.
But I am not entering this in any contest, just sharing it with my customers. I don't mind anyone sharing anything with their customers either that you see on my blog. As I case, you can case from mine. However, most of us don't want to see what you cased, as being profitted by winning a contest, or selling to another person, to gain profit. (meaning, don't sell what I have done or others have done to another person)

After the class on Saturday, I will post the cards that we make!
Enjoy the teasing for now!!

On Board Books

Stampin' Up came out with On Board Books. They come in 3 shapes, and this shows 2 of the shapes. The other one is from the "M" store. I loved the Scallop square, so I decided to add this larger one to my project. Now, the idea for this is to continue to add more "pages" to create a multi shaped album!

I love the thickness of the board, and how easy it is to decorate! At first, I was intimidated. I was worried at where to start!?

So, when you're thinking about it, go with the easiest and with the colors you like. I love the colors of Sweet Pea paper stack! Now, this is a work in progress, but you can see where we start, and how far we can go! I have several other shapes to add to this as well as the bird shape, which Stampin' Up has in the Mini catalog! (I GOTTA GET THAT!)

So, what do you think?

...friends....what a nice album to share with them!

Lemons, Sunshine, Showers...and stamping

A few years ago, I bought a Lemon Tree. We used to have a peach tree and a plum tree in the back but the termites got to them. But, I have always wanted a Lemon Tree. My daughter and I love lemon tea with honey when we're tired or sick. Vitamin C is so good when you're hovering over a hot cup of lemon and honey! I decided to check on my tree today, in the misty drizzle, and sunshine, and our tree was so laden with lemons that the branches were drooping over! So, I got out my basket and my cutters, and picked most of them. We actually filled up 2 baskets! (there are more lemons on the tree, but these were the best ones!)

Flower Layers

I finally did one of these, and I got the fabrics at the Big Box Fabric store. The fabrics were all from the Decorating Fabric section, and I love the texture. I cut 4 different fabrics and then hot glued them together after folding each one (and gluing). Then I layered each of the smaller flowers. I had the largest one too, but it was a bit too large, so these are the smaller ones (there are 4 sizes). The Center uses 2 of the Corduroy Brads, The larger red one has 2 holes in the center like a button, and then the smaller pumpkin one is a brad that the prongs go through the holes of the red corduroy. A. Pin backing is added to the back of the flower so it can be attached to a purse (shown) or maybe to a jacket lapel
The colors are pretty next to this felted purse I made, which was knitted and then stitched together with a i-cord handle. The varigated wool/soy yarn felts beautifully and the flower accents the red and golds in the varigated yarn...

I usually supply everything to my class attendees for them to make their projects, however, as time is going on and costs going up, I am giving up supplying everything. Since I might be moving, I want to reduce the stuff I have accumulated and so, I am not going to be providing these items any more! But, it is always good to have a check list of things you will/might need for a class! Now, I know that not everything shown is from Stampin' Up! But, I really love my Scor Pal, and so this is something that I am showing so that you know how I do my scoring.

The Write Stuff Bento Box

Using the Write Stuff was a challenge, and I got some ideas from Andrea Walford's blog and created some cute little notes! I had a couple of these tins that look like mini lunchboxes, and decided I could make some cute notes to fit inside! Each note is 4x4 and I had some envelopes that I got from another source.
A Bento Box is a japanese name for Lunchbox. If you do some research on Bento Boxes, there are some amazing things that the Japanese create for their lunches!
The Stamps were from Well Scripted, Tiny Tags and Whimsical Words. All from the Mini catalog or Sale A Bration catalog! You can purchase this tutorial by clicking here

The Write Stuff Specialty Papers #115674 $11.95

Love Coupons

Love is in the air!

I know that some of you have been thinking of what to do with your favorite loved one....What can you create that would be fun and yet be something that you both can enjoy?

I was on several sites and found Love Coupons!

I decided that even though these are fru-fru, and maybe a GUY wouldn't like to get them because they are PINK! He might just think that they would be reminders of YOU!

The folder is made out of Pretty in Pink cardstock, and the embossed are is layered Pretty in Pink, Barely Banana, and Rose Red. The title is printed on Very Vanilla Cardstock and then cut out and layered.

Each of the coupons are just from what I thought someone would like to receive....Movie night, dinner, sports and games....but I am sure you have someone you can personalize this for!

The Felt flowers are from the Sweet Pea felt flowers, and I love love love them! The accents are embossed using the folders that Stampin' Up carries in the catalog and Mini catalog!

What do you have planned for your loved one?

Valentine's Day

Co-Workers are always fun to give gifts to, because it is a token of something small and yet, it can mean so much to someone. In our office, we give small tokens at holidays, not just because we have to work so close together with each other but because we all get along pretty well for an office.

Yes, there is always personality differences, but we all get along! I made these gifts for my co-workers using the plastic boxes I got from another company, which I originally used to make cute small 3x3 cards, and filled them with (what else?) CHOCOLATE!

I used the Heart Treat cups on the front, and then covered them up with the Designer papers, Love Specialty. Each of the hearts fit in perfectly, and they are appropriate, not too suggestive for co-workers!

Simple and easy, and I can deliver them today! A little early but I won't see them on Valentine's day..(I see my boss at work and at church, but I would rather keep it in the office).
Have a great Valentine's DAY and remember your friends and family!

Rosettes...now what?

So, you've made some rosetts...now what to do with them?

I showed you how to make these rosettes the other day on my blog, and now what...Well, I added to this plain box! It is a small gift box from "M" and it needs something special that will set it off! I added the Real Red Polka Dot Ribbon and the Rosette, and Voila!

How easy it is to add simple embellishments to set off a simple gift!

And...to show you we really did eat Chili, Chips and Cheese on Superbowl Sunday....
and a stamped pocket card....

Let me call you.....

Sweetheart...aww..........
What do you call your loved ones? Sweetie? Sugar? I don't have a significant "other" but I guess I wasn't mushy.

I love chocolate, so I guess I would call it my sweets! I found these cute Raspberry Truffle Hearts at the market and they almost fit in perfectly! I had to sort of push them in but it does lay down flat on the card, so I guess it works! I also found some foil wrapped Conversation Chocolate Hearts in pastel colors as well.

This is all for my class that was on Sunday. We used the Sweet Treats, Large Heart punch and the Sweetheart Stamp set.

You can order this stamp set for 21.95 ($15.95)#120415 (120720), and the little cups for this card for 2.95 #120435

Only a few more days til Valentine's Day! Do you have something for your friends or special loved one yet? Better get shoppin'!

Rosettes, Rosettes, Rosettes!!!

HAPPY MONDAY! Did you watch the Superbowl? Did your team win? I don't have a team so I don't really care about the outcome but, I hope for your sake that your team won!

One of the trends at CHA was Rosettes! I saw Rosettes everywhere! I think I thought it was last year but it seems that it is a trend that is still here! I love how they look and they are so easy to make! Last year, we made them at cha out of crepe paper. It was such a cute look but hey, I need to use Stampin' Up! Papers, right!? So, I gathered out my papers, and decided to use the new papers

-I used 2 strips of designer paper, cut at 1 3/4" x 12".
-I scored at 1/2" all the way across.
-Punch across one edge. This is using the pinking hearts border punch!

-Accordion fold each strip. The first one start with mountain, and the second strip, start with valley. This way the 2 strips can be attached together with only 2 layers, rather than having 2 bulky areas. They will form a circle.

I then gathered the center in together, leaving the punched edge to the outer edge. I put them in an egg poacher ring. (you can get this at the .99 cents store or any discount store or market!)

Glue a circle to the back side using white glue (I used tacky glue)

Punch out a heart, and then lay it on the Scallop Embossed heart of hearts die

After it is run through the machine, this is what it will look like.

Then, punch out white cardstock but use the full heart.

Lay the punched embossed red heart on the white scallop heart. This is what you will have after attaching it with white glue.

A Kind Word

Sweet pea and a Kind Word....sounds like something you would want to send to a friend! The greeting phrase is from Whimsical Words, which is a Sale A Bration set!

I love the colors, the Rose Red, and Old Olive along with the Sweet Pea Paper stack, and the felt Sweet Pea flowers. I really love the shapes of these, and although I would rather just buy them and never use them, what good is that??

I know, I am a hoarder. I love the hoarding but, I HAVE TO USE THEM RIGHT?? This is from my card class for Superbowl Sunday! It is a girls day out! I might be watching the commercials, but we'll see....

Stamping is in the Air!

I have been preoccupied, but I am sure my absence from my blog is probably the biggest indication. It has been a rough few weeks and then I was at CHA, and then I got sick!
It has also been a time of making some decisions about staying with Stampin' Up! or putting it all behind me. I am still not sure what I am going to be doing but for now, I am staying with Stampin' Up! I love their products and it is more economical for me to stay than to try to start something else with any other company!

The other thing is the NEW stamps that are coming out! I love the new papers and the new format the stamps are in! They take up less room and are really easy to use. The clear mount makes it slimmer to store and less cumbersome!

This card is done using Vintage Vogue and Well Scripted. I used the colors on the paper to stamp with. The colors are: chocolate chip, taken with teal, so saffron, and pumpkin pie. This is really out of my scope of colors, but I do like it! (taking me out of my comfort zone!)

Sometimes it is good to be out of comfort zone. It helps you to grow. When I am all settled with my current situation, I will share with you what has been going on...and I do hope that after all the dust settles, I will be able to continue with my Stampin' Up! Career!

hugs!
