"New" Cabinet

I got a new cabinet! Well, sort of new...

It used to belong to my daughter, but she decided that now that she's going to be in college, she doesn't need her changing table to be her clothes cabinet. *grin*

I was patiently waiting to see what she was going to decide to do with this...and finally, she said she wanted it out of her room...I quickly said..."OK!!!"

We shoved, and moved and rearranged things in my patio room where I stamp, and so this has now moved into my 'studio'.

I still have some re-arranging to do, but I love my 'new' cabinet! My clear mount stamps fit perfectly on the shelf, and the summer ones are above the cabinet, ready to be moved to a 'retired' area.

My potbelly bear is wearing a jacket that I made for my daughter when she was a baby....it is a little big for the bear but it was displayed in a quilt show, just after my daughter was born. It was pieced and quilted from bright cheery fabrics.
My cards are displayed on my Umbra umbrella photo display that I got from a friend, and the ribbons are just temporarily on this peg....I know..it looks really messy!
I have more furniture in my room...but this at least looks somewhat controlled messy, right??? *wink!*

Perfect Watercolor Trio

Inspired by Selene Kempton, I die cut the scallop oval from Wild Wasabi, and Whisper White
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Perfect Plum and Wild Wasabi bump up each other for this card.
Embossing the Perfect Plum cardstock using the new Vintage Wallpaper Texture Folder.
The ribbon is really what caught my eye on Selene's card, and she added a button. I don't have any buttons that would match now, since they retired the old buttons....but using the hemp cord to tie the ribbons together, gives it a rustic country look!
Pinecone Tags
I am loving the new stamps, and punches from the HOLIDAY MINI Catalog! I know when you see all the new items in this mini, you will just be as excited as I am!
I am making tags for my Christmas gifts.....but you can make tags or cards for ANY occasion!
I should be playing some Christmas music to get more inspired, but it is finally starting to get HOT here in CA! So, listening to snow falling and sleigh bells might just be what I should be playing to cool off! (hee hee!)
This is from the Tags 'til Christmas set from the Holiday Mini Catalog. Using Markers to color in the images, and then to stamp it on vanilla cardstock. I punched it out using the NEW label punch. I then layered it over Chocolate Chip cardstock and finally over Crumb Cake cards that are cut 3" x 6", folded in 1/2.
Two Tags Die
Two Tags die can be a fun tag all by itself, but the tags are long. I wanted the tags to be a bit smaller, but how can you make these tags smaller?
Well, by folding!
I folded it at the edge of the scallop, and then folded at 2" from the edge on the right side. This way, the scallop circle laps over the tag.
I really like how this came out, it is cute and compact, and was easy to be used because it is done by the Die cut and the punches!
I'll either add a hole at the fold and then a string on the end....!
Christmas Tags
I love snowmen! They are so cute! When I saw this set in the Holiday Mini, I knew that this stamp had to be one in my collection! I stamped it on whisper white, in Pacific Point, punched with the 1 3/4" circle and then cut out (using the circle scissors) a circle in Bashful Blue. The large scallop is from the New catalog, the LARGE 2 3/8" Scallop circle punch!
Tag making is getting easier!
It's beginning to look a lot like.....
"Christmas is coming,
the Goose is getting fat,...."
This song started going through my head. I was thinking, am I CRAZY? It is only 7 am, in AUGUSt, and it is a beautiful morning and starting to get hot. The last few days of summer are finally here!
I started using some of my new Holiday Mini catalog stamps to make some Christmas tags for a class I am planning! This is a 3x3 card and I used discontinued dotted grosgrain ribbon, it looked so cute! The punch is also new, however the oval had to be hand cut. Fortunately, the oval is stamped on and so that makes it easy to cut! I will post a few more tags.....in the next couple of days!
Knitting Gift Tags
Well, today's project is something I have had on my mind for quite some time..well, ever since I saw this cute knitting stamp set! I love how simply cute this set is. I collect yarn as well as rubber stamps, and I do knit small projects for friends, and family...
I decided to pick simple colors, so Crumb Cake, Real Red, and So Saffron came together just perfect! Of course, I will make one that has more green in it next time for a friend who likes green, but you can see how simple this came together once the ideas started flowing!
Tomorrow, I will post all the cards/tags individually, so you can see what they look like. Simply stamped, and not a lot of layering only because I wanted to show you how simple you can make a gift in only an hour and 1/2 or less, once you got the main idea (measurements) done!
I can see possibilities for Christmas as well!!!
There are some great tags and cards you can make for a friend for their wrapping nights!
Texting your kids
I got this email from Better Homes & Gardens, and after just coming back from a college orientation for my daughter, I guess it just is more confirming! They said instead of calling and getting upset that your child is not calling you back, you NEED to get on the technology bandwagon..Your kid is not ignoring you, or avoiding you (well, maybe they are..!) but they are venturing into their new life!
1 TXT = 1000 WORDS -
from an email mailing from Better Homes & Gardens....
The appeal of owning 100 Silly Bandz may be lost on the parents of tweens and teens these days. But there's one fad that parents and kids can agree on: texting.
According to a 2010 Pew Research Center study, 75 percent of teenagers own cell phones and texting is their preferred form of communication. And some of those LOL's are buzzing right into their parents hands. The study explains, "71 percent of cell-phone owning parents of teens 12-17 say they send and receive text messages on their cell phones."
"My parents text me all the time," says 17-year-old Alexander Corwin from Manhattan. "It's just the most convenient way to stay in touch." Sometimes, it simply saves his parents a yell. "The other day I had a bunch of friends over and when I looked down at my phone I had a BBM from my mom saying to 'keep it down!'"
For Arthur Hyland, 50, of Vienna, Virginia, texting with his daughters, Katie, 15, and Susie, 12, is a daily pick-me-up. "I will send a message...just to say 'hi' and that I'm thinking about them." It's the responses he gets that make the new technology worth it. "It's nice that they are sharing what they are doing with their Dad."
The message reads loud and clear -- a txt is worth 1000 words. Consider the benefits to text messages: • They're great for coordinating drop-offs and pick-ups. • Simple messages like, "Walk the dog when you get home," or "Be home by 6 p.m." are relayed quickly and clearly. • Sending photos is a great way to engage your kids. If you're on a business trip or just out and about and see something funny or interesting, send a snapshot. It will give you something to laugh about later and let them know that you are in tune with their interests.
So, I am going to be creating some photo cards that I can send to her via text message to remind her how proud I am of her, and that I miss her....This silly one is of my co-worker and myself being silly at work....I can't wait to send her this one! hee hee!
Just Believe ....Masking technique
Masking Technique
First, stamp the image. I used markers to color the stamp. Old Olive for the flowers and leaves, and Basic Black for the frame.
I stamped the same image on a masking sheet (which is like a sticky post-it) I cut out the image and laid it on top of the stamped image.
You then ink up any other stamp, and stamp over the area that is masked as well as next to the masked area.
Lift up the mask and voila!
All done...!!!!
Conjunction Junction...whats your function?
Lately, I have been asked to create invitations for baby showers and birthday parties. I made one for my daughter's birthday party when she turned 18, and also for her graduation...
So, one of my co-workers asked me to make a Baby shower invitation for her son's upcoming baby. She was so thrilled that she asked me to create one for her friend's daughter....so after contacting the mom, who told me that her daughter loves Purple and Dark Blue, I came up with this one. I eliminated some of the details, but the flowers were so easy and fun to work with! I love the swirl from Baroque Motif, so that seems to be my 'staple' image! To create some depth behind the flowers, I added a "PUNCH" to make the flowers have color besides the background color. It was fun to keep experimenting with the flowers and pulling images forward, and backward to create layering!
The scallop square, I added a shadow, to make it look dimensional. If you create a page, don't forget to add the dimension. It DOES make a difference. Of course, if you don't like it, then it is a totally personal thing to add!
This whole creative experience and making the invitation for my friend, has interested her in using the program. I am not sure she wants to spend this much for it, but I certainly have been having fun, so it is worth spending the money on being creative for me!!!!
SO...I think you're probably wondering why I used the title "Conjunction Junction, what's your function?" I love School House Rock! I think it was just one of the silly songs that was going through my head when I was writing this...!!!!
And, or, either, nor, neither, .......can you think of them all?
Just Believe......friends
What can you do with Old Olive and Basic Black? I love how classy it looks! And...I love the BLING pearls! Wooo hooo!
Stampin' Up! is finally getting some cool accessories! I love how pretty it accents the flowers!
I stamped the circle in Old Olive and decided to try accenting it with black fine line marker. I wasn't the 'neatest' with it but you can see that you don't have to be an artist to make it work!
Just Believe in Old Olive & Black
Sorry it has been a couple of days since I last posted...I get busy doing stuff and then I get blocked as far as ideas flowing to create...do you have days like that?
So...I also got my NEW "STUFF" from the Holiday Mini Catalog (yep! The Holidays are around the corner!) I was so excited, except...the stamps I ordered were Christmas! I am NOT really ready for CHRISTMAS!!! Are YOU?
So...blocked again!
However, I love the new die that is in the Holiday Mini and so I used that to jump start ideas! So, this is a sneak peek at the card that I will feature this week! You will see a set of cards and envelopes that I have cute-ly boxed for a special gift!
I will be gone most of this week due to college orientation for my daughter and also her last basketball tournament in Las Vegas......But I am going to try to get all the postings done for this week so you will have something to check back on each day!!!!
I caved...I usually don't use too many NON SU items but, I caved...I was at W---m--t and saw these cute stickers and embellishments at W---m--t and for a reasonable cost, I purchased them. I decided that if you were making one of these little books for a friend, they probably wouldn't care if you made it or purchased it...but that they will go with the papers that Stampin' Up! carries!
This is the last month that this paper will be available! Island Oasis is one of my most favorite papers! I love the tropical colors and appeal!
The little images from the purchased embellishments just go along perfectly with this paper!
The words are just so cute as well!
This is a birds eye view of the meandering book. It will flip closed!
I think it's a sweet little way to carry around memories-to-go!
Class is Saturday: August 7th 11:30 to 1:30 pm
Just.....Just Believe!
This is a set that when I saw it in the catalog, I felt that it was one that had a lot of potential! I have seen cards done with this set in the last few weeks, and I am so glad I have it! I have been trying to make limited purchases, and trying NOT to buy EVERYTHING in the Catalog.....I need to retire, and can't retire with my stamps right? (laugh please!!)
I love the texture folders - this one is the new folder called Vintage Wallpaper #120175, $7.95
I embossed Marina Mist Cardstock, mounted it on Basic Black, and then with Whisper White, I stamped the floral images on the White cardstock using Black Classic Ink.
I then sponged Baja Breeze and Marina Mist over the cardstock, leaving some white areas. Spritzing Smooch Spritz in Gold Glow and Vanilla Shimmer makes this pop more!
To finish off the card, I took Silver brads, and covered them with Mini Glue dots, and then dipped them in Black Glitter from the Fine Galaxy glitter Stack (#114286, $13.95) Of course, if you want a sneaky tip.....In the up-coming Holiday Mini catalog, there will be GLITTER BRADS!!! So you won't have to mess with glue dots and glitter....they will be there all ready to use! (WHOO HOOO!!!)
TODAY is MY Birthday!!! I hope you will take advantage of my sale, and order from the NEW Catalog today!!! <---click!
