Fabric Painting & Stampin, of course!

In my "other" life...as a quilter, I used to do all sorts of fabric painting and piecing. I took classes at quilt shows, with teachers like Judy Mathieson, and Sherrill Kahn, and did quilts like Watercolor quilts, Quilt a pets (out of 1000's of 1" pieces of fabrics)...and Handpainting my own fabrics...so I have lots of beautiful paints....sadly, though, some of them I had to toss because the paints became too dry - IN-ACTIVITY! But, I was able to salvage a few of them....

I have this little doggie and on my last trip to SLO (San Luis Obispo) I decided that I needed a little 'ditty' bag to carry plastic baggies for my little dog for her "ahem" business. I happily got out this canvas bag, and strapped it to the leash, so I would have it with me in case of emergency!

But what "artist" can resist a BLANK CANVAS? Isn't that a crime? ..and often times, isn't our motto if it isn't moving STAMP IT??

So realizing this is a NO-NO, I pulled out my paints...

These are lovely pearlized paints that you can use on paper or fabric, so I got them out. I think the Smooch spray paint got me inspired to do something with this. My puppy's colors that we used for her leash and collars are PURPLE. (LAKER's colors, right! - well, it wasn't the real reason, but it works :D)

Sponging the color directly on the bag, and moving the colors around to get the most use out of the colors...

I got the *brilliant* idea to wash the bag to smoosh the colors around more, but then it was too wet!!!
I can't stamp on the wet canvas because then the stamped image would smear, right?

So, I got ANOTHER *brilliant* idea....(NOT) to use my daughter's hair straightener to dry and smooth it out but....as I was moving it around, I gasped when I saw the ceramic plates...

gee, do you think she's going to notice?? I guess I can use the ol' stand-by..."I DU-NO?" as the reason why it looks like this!

*grin*

Well, I got out my Dye-na-Flow paint which is a really vibrant, loose, watery paint, and sponged it on the stamp. It goes on very loose, but the color is so bright!

This is what my bag looks like so far. I need to add more embellishments to it to finish it, but I have to go off to the store to find more stuff....heh heh....

Now, I will finish it probably this weekend, and then you can see how simply easy this was to finish!
Since we live by the beach, almost all of our dog's stuff is hawai'ian fabric and themed!
