Treasure box of Memories

I had lunch with a friend the other day, and she was telling me that she has to come up with "projects" for kids. Craft Projects. She sounded like she would rather have her eyebrows done rather than do "crafts".
I had to laugh, but we were thinking of several different things they could do, and one was the amazing scrapbook. BUT...I started thinking that these are Missionary's kids. They travel lightly, they live as the locals do, with very little in material possessions.

I started thinking that maybe they could have a memory box or treasure box. So, using my Accu Cut die and some Altoids tins I had, I decided to decorate using photographs of things that I love, and wanted to keep in a little box. These will be her samples of things. I will also add some buttons and stones, and other goodies
Some of the pictures are taken from websites, but most are of people and pets I know...
Tomorrow, I will have a photo of the Amazing Scrapbook that I came up with....using the same Spring Break Papers....love them...
Today, I can PRE-order the New 2008-2009 Fall Winter Catalogs!! OOOH!

Embrace Life

I have masked and stamped this, and it is ready to color. This set, Embrace Life is NOT discontinued or dormant, or going away soon....
This is colored in...I boo boo'd and over stamped the 'embrace life' and got the edges. My daughter said to just leave it...
well, I might..I think I might stamp something so it will not look as obvious....

I added glitter to the center of the card.....I am getting more braver at using glitter, don't you think? When I first started stamping over 25 years ago, I used to use glitter all the time, but then, I hated getting it on my face, on my clothes, and floor etc.....now..I guess I don't care??? lol

I just love the color of Not Quite Navy and Purely Pomegranate. It simply looks so fresh, crisp and cool.

Tomorrow I will have a another project done with the Spring Break Papers....I am really going to be missing all the papers, but the NEW DSP's that are coming are very nice too!....

Embrace life w Spring Break

Yvonne had shared her tote, which she got from another demo's site..and it was so cute, I decided that I would make one too. Since the Spring Break paper matches the Sky Blue paper IN-Color, I thought I better use up some of the 'scraps' I have to make a few cards to go inside this cute tote!
Leslie Miller has the tutorial on her blog and directions as to how to make it. I did a few changes, but the basic tote is here. I like the practicality of the tote, and that it uses 8 1/2 x 11 Cardstock and then you cut up the cards to fit as well as the envelopes.
I made 5 simple cards with the left over papers, and the Embrace Life set.
The ink markers were copics, but you can use the SU markers as well.

The card here is VERY simple...it needs something else..but I don't know what I want to put here...(it is also very hot today, and I don't want to sit and stamp anymore....I am sweating as I stamp...now..where's my air conditioner???)

Remember to buy your In-Color Cardstock and the Spring Break DSP before the end of this catalog year!!!....
It will be the end before you know it!

Box of Cards for Mom

Happy 4th of July!!!
A few days ago, I was perusing blogs, and came across a box of cards that Cambria made for her Grandma......I loved the box of cards! I love Cambria's version better than mine, but this is what I had left over in my stash.....My mom has been asking me to make her some cards so she could sell them to her friends or use them for herself. She asks me all the time, I just never have enough to give to her, because, usually, they are used as class samples....

But...seeing this set, I thought, what a good way to use up some of the (now) discontinued papers that were in the Occasions Mini Catalog...This is the Summer Picnic papers. I miss them already, don't you? I also hadn't used up very many of the Die Cut Blooms, so this is also another way to use up the die cuts.

I still have the orange and the red, which I will save for another project,...maybe more cards?

Cambria has the pattern for the box on her blog, so be sure to check it out!

These are post cards, which can be placed into envelopes for quickie thank you's!

I embellished them with buttons, and more die cuts and DSP

Happy 4th of July....

I probably won't be posting as much since I will be getting ready for convention at the end of the month, but I hope to keep putting something in at least a few times before I go........I should also be receiving my Pre-Catalog order soon too....(open open open..the Mervyns commercial always comes to mind!)

Crab & Co

This happy crab is so cute! I love to color him in and put googlie eyes on him....
I think that he's a great summer birthday card, don't you think? Of course, this set will be on the Dormant list again...but, I think for a while he's going to be quite happy if you keep him active.
I made a trifold card, and on the end section, I used the word window punch to create a pocket to hold a gift card....wouldn't the recipient of this be happy to get something from their favorite place to shop???
The scor lines are easy to do with the Scor Pal. I love this tool, and to give you some background on it, it was created by a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, named Diane Crick...be sure to check out her site....!!!
Happy Birthday America! Can you believe tomorrow is the 4th of July?

Sticky Die Cut Letters and Microbeads

Using the same technique with the Sticky Die Cut letters, I applied it to the REAL RED cardstock, and cut it out. Then, I peeled off and used MICROBEADS!
I added some of the hardware from the retiring sampler kits..(be sure to note that they will be available but not in this finish).....
Ginger Blossom Papers are also only available until August 10th

I ended up taking off the spiral clip because I think it was too much. I like to use these metal belt buckle things. I attached it with the River Rock stitched ribbon using some sticky tape to hold it, like you would a real belt.

Sticky Die Cut Letters

Sometimes, I think about Stampin' Up at the oddest times..and this time, it was during worship at Church...I usually am focused on church, and singing, but they were singing some new songs, and I wasn't into it yet..so my mind drifted...(sorry God)....
This just was a glimpse into what I was thinking...and so, today, Monday, decided to see if it would work....

I took my sticky die cut letters, and some DSP (Bali Breeze, available until the end of this catalog...August 10th) and chose a small cut piece from the collection. I scored with my scissors on the paper side (not the pink side) and cut through the paper so that it was easier to remove.

The score/cut line makes it easier to peel off the paper backing. It is very difficult to do it with artificial nails, but even with real nails it is hard.

Stick it to the decorative paper, down on the RIGHT side..the side you want to be visible.

Cut out your letter. Be sure to cut out the inside.

Adhere the letter using either mono adhesive or tombow glue and stick it to the cardstock of your choice...

In this case, I used Groovy Guava

I then, peeled off the pink cover off the sticky die cut letters, and sprinkled glitter over.

After matting all the pieces, and cutting a scallop border, your piece is done!

closer up...
