Gifts for co-workers

 I made my co-workers a gift of cards again, and this year, I put them in little clear boxes by Clear Images (Impact images).  I got the boxes a couple of years ago, and decided I better start using them..so I stamped 24 cards, in Pear Pizzazz, Pretty in Pink, Not Quite Navy, and Real Red...matched them up with some designer papers, and stamps...

Simple cards, and yet really makes a nice quick gift to give friends that I work with!  I made 2 of the packages with 1 of each color card so each person gets 4 cards.  The colors coordinate with the person I'm giving the gift to, and the assorted ones are for 2 senior ladies that are joining our group for our work Christmas Party. I wanted to incorporate them into our 'gift giving'.   We don't do the typical white elephant gift or draw names....we decided a few years ago, that we all have plenty of things to buy and we all have enough so we gift a  give to foster kids who are in need during Christmas...

So to offset that, some of us bake, and I - STAMP!  of course!

with Sympathy.....

Hi! long time..no stamping!

I had a huge problem with failuretostamp! Have you heard of that? I didn't want to go in my room and do anything...not because I didn't want to stamp but only because there were so many things going on in my life that I just didn't have time.....plus Thanksgiving and family situations...

but, I think that is over, and now I can finally be in my room and play...

Plus it does help that I have an order coming in tomorrow and I need to get juicy creations going in my head! I created this card because of a need to stamp a sympathy card.

My friend lost her husband, and I have been praying for her and her family for strength....

He was a great dad, husband, and friend, and he will be missed. Until the end, he still had his sens of humor and the family got to spend some great time with him.

I made this card for her using whisper white, celery and baja breeze. Very simple and yet I think it will make her smile......

Make a Wish.....

Stampin' Up! Donation on Behalf of Demonstrators Grants Three-Year-Old's Wish

Three-year-old Birklee has a new wooden play set, a play set that she enjoys playing on with her family and friends. The play set helps take her mind off the things that a typical toddler shouldn't have to be worried about, things like surviving hypoplastic left-heart syndrome (HLHS).

Birklee received the play set through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, when Stampin' Up! granted her wish. We work with the foundation to grant the wish of at least one child every year, on behalf of our demonstrators and in lieu of an annual Christmas card.

"Through this donation, we hope our demonstrators feel how much we love and appreciate all they do, and that we celebrating our shared commitment to making a difference in the lives of those around us," says Shelli Gardner.

Stampin' Up! shares Make-A-Wish's commitment to children, and we especially appreciate the organization's desire to "enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy."
Birklee wish has certainly done that. The play set was completed recently, and Birklee and her family and friends celebrated with a fun princess party.

We all know that times are rough now, - Make a difference this Season by giving to a charity instead of gifting each other..... hugs..Dianne

Happy THANKSGIVING!!!!

So...I hope you're having a wonderful Thanksgiving...I have been making mash potatoes to take to my brother's house, which we're having lunch...so I am excited to have Turkey...it is one of my most favorite foods, and holidays! I love Turkey!

...and as an added treat, I have been trying to make these cute jars for gifts...but, I decided I better try to make the Chocolate Mint Barks first so I can see how well it works out...

So, I carefully followed the instructions...and measured out by dropping the chips on the cookie sheet (parchment, of course)...and ......



VOILA!


ugh, right?

NOT a good result. The Chocolates burned and didn't melt very well. I had the oven on 250 but it didn't melt in 3 minutes like the instructions said it would, so I left it in longer and kept checking....after each minute, and up to 10 minutes....I decided I better pull it out...and the vanilla chips were brown, and the chocolate was icky...I tried to spread it in the pan, but this was the result...throwing the non pareils over it did nothing to the appearance.....!!!



So, I decided I would melt individually each of the chips in the Microwave, and then put it in the pan. First I put the Dark Chocolate as a 'base', and then drizzled the vanilla (white) and the mint (green) over it and sprinkling the candies on top..and then I dragged the spatula through the mixture to create a swirled effect like this....

Much, better...don't you think????





So, the moral of the story is to try it before you gift it....it might not work so well if you don't at least try it first! :)

Halloween Fun!

Halloween is such a fun holiday...not in the sense that it is a day you take off and sleep in but, that you can have such fun decorating!

Last saturday, I held my Halloween fun class, and for 5.00, you got to amke 3 items! The Frankie bag, the test tube beans and the pumpkin sucker......but since there were only 3 people, I let them make 2 of each item..so they got to make the candy corn bag as well as another test tube and pumpkin...

Noel Pop Up card

I love this reindeer stamp. It just looks so ethereal. Very simple stamp and under 10.00!

...By adding some die cuts, I embossed the deer on Whisper white, and heated it up using white embossing powder, and then added swirls of blue ink - Bashful Blue, Tempting Turquoise and Marina Mist. Swirled around the deer image.

I then layered it on the scallop circle, a square of Tempting Turquoise and Scallop square dies.

The inside of the card, is also spectacular! I was inspired by a card I saw on http://www.pinterest.com/

It has pinned cards and all sorts of ideas compiled on 1 website! My friend Valerie pointed it out to me, and now, I'm hooked! What a great place to "store" ideas!

Hello Doily!

I finally purchased this stamp...I have had my eye on it since it came out in the New Catalog in July....I love the details in this. I have the medallion stamp as well, but I LOVE the movement in the lines of this stamp!

Penguin Christmas

Happy Feet in PINK!

I decided that I needed to coordinate more of the papers that are in the Letters to Santa Designer papers, and this was one of the combinations that matched the paper. Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz, and White. I decided that it needed a cute-ness factor, and so I pulled out my Tags set and the penguin especially because,...let's face it..Penguins are too cute!

After putting most of the elements in this card together, it still was missing something, so I added the swirls and the glitz!

I can't wait for the ICE AGE movie to come out and also Happy Feet! :)

Today is Rebekah's birthday and I'm giving her a card that is punched with hearts of love! She's in double digits now...10 years old! (my friend's daughter!)

I used the trio hearts punch, and pretty in pink cardstock. Punched several times, and then glued on top.

Flowers wishing the Happiest birthday!

Where is the time going? It is already starting to feel like fall. School is here, and the kids are screaming and laughing on the playground...it's recess right now, and our neighborhood school is in full force! We already had back to school night....I can tell because the parents swarm around the school. It is pretty good now because in years past, it never was an issue with parking but that's the joys (or not) of living near a school!

My friend Denise lives in Las Vegas, and she loves flowers. She works with flowers and lives 'flowers'.

Her birthday was last week, and I sent this card to her to celebrate her 60th birthday!
